I'm not sure which transmitter the aerial was pointing to, our friends live in Brendon which is on the border and there is a big hill seperating Brendon from Lynton or Lynmouth. I know there's a relay of Mendip about 2 miles from Brendon up at Countisbury, hence the reason why we were getting HTV/BBC West instead of Westcountry/BBC South West but five was also being received.

Apparently due to the hill, the village has a communal aerial that everyone uses! They even have a "Communal Aerial society meeting"!

I'm not sure which transmitter the aerial on top of the hill was pointing to but it might've had 2 aerials in order to pick up five, one pointing to Countisbury and another that could get stronger signals that was probably pointing towards Mendip (5 text stated it was coming from "Region 2" - not sure which transmitter comes under Region 2).

That must be irritating for people - getting news from a region other than the one they live in.

Yes it was... what was particularly annoying was that due to that hill I couldn't get ANY local radio whatsoever... Just Radios 1-4, Classic FM and BBC Cymru on FM! The hill blocked off reception from Lantern FM/Orchard FM etc... But I could get reception from the Barnstaple frequency for Radio Devon AM. I wouldn't want to live in the Brendon area - you're blocked off from practically every means of contact with the outside world!
