Do we need another soap? More here. Meanwhile, filming of River City has finished until February, due to construction work near the set. The Christmas and New Year editions of the show were filmed last week. I thought Grampian was bad, for once recording their New Year show in October.

what a waste of money!
at least High road was for Older viewers so it was a hit, while, river city is mover younger viewers and WE have enough of thoses!
interesting - the report seems to hint that the soap would be networked, i wonder how this will impact on bbc birmingham's doctors and afternoon plays which currently dominate the mid-afternoon slot.
Maybe it could take the place of Diagnosis Murder repeats, which the bbc seem to re run on bbc1 every year, or even instead of endless repeats of Cash in The Attic in the mornings, or maybe alternating with series of doctors as it often has breaks.
I'm not sure how they would introduce new viewers in the south to River City given how much ground has been covered. A long departed cast member (Kirsty) turned up dead somewhere or other this week. She ran away in 2003! I'm a big fan of the show - it is easily my favourite soap, but I think England, Wales and NI are never going to see it.
I think it's utterly fantastic that they are proposing a new drama serial. The production base in Glasgow is very, very impressive already, and can only improve I think by using it for more projects.
River City has come a long way since it first aired. You can actually watch it now and believe the stories.
Doctors seems a lot better these days although the storyline of the doctor with OCD because of abuse I feel is a little too tedious. It's a good storyline but I don't know there is something about it that really gets to me.
I think the 12.30 slot would be a good position for this daytime soap. Seems to be filled with repeats just now. Just so long as its not overly scottish accents everywhere.
