Seen just after countryfile, used almost as a bumper, presume its significance will come clearer in future days...

but wouldn't that make a great ident? Particularly if it was a live fishtank with a camera in front of it?

We've had balloons and dancers, so I guess now the only realistic next step for BBC One is...errr...fish! Rolling Eyes

Stealing BBC Two's thunder just a little bit?

Maybe I'm being an anorak and reading too much into this. Laughing

Would this be part of a new 'The One' campaign by any chance?

I'm putting my money on a rather obscure trailer for "The French and Saunders Show". But it does look cheery and would look good as a series of "animals Watching Telly" idents! after all, we can all identify with animals in one way or another rather than the sometimes irrelevant dancers. BBC chiefs, look no further for a new ident campaign!!!

This is too cutesy to be a "real" ident.

Furthermore, I like my idents to follow the laws of physics...how on earth is the fish supposed to have an uninsulated electric device (the lamp) in operation under water without quickly being poached? Very Happy

Notice also that even though the lampshade has no top, the light is only emanating downwards.

How can you actually tell it has no top?

It'd look really nice though and would look great as an identso I hope it's not just something that'll be used over the next week to promote a new programme/service and then never used again.

Damn. I just turned onto BBC ONE Wales to see the fish swimming around, with the announcer just finishing off saying "Eey-C ONE Wales". Did anyone catch what he said before that? It must have been something about the fish's meaning, as the Ident aired one trailer later.
