Wahey! I've managed to record 1-minute's worth of the BBC News 24 Ident from Wednesday night (for some reason BBC ONE viewers were left with the Ident running before a very abrupt link into ABC World News and a scrolling Aston welcome).
And last night (about 01:25) BBC ONE viewers were rewarded with a 75-second countdown just before the weather.
Anyway, I've got a VHS recording of the two and will be digitising them onto my PC and hopefully sending them here ... if my TV card will ever start working again!
PS I also have a load of ident music and clips from BBC 2000 Today (New Millennium Eve). Would anyone like me to send them here? Anyway, I'm off now!

I remember the 1 minute News 24 ident on Wednesday, I was watching it the ident was moving for about 45 seconds, then it went to a still image.
Also, I have been looking EVERYWHERE for 2000 Today Idents (you do have the news ident don't you?), so this is excellent!!
i saw those two as well. the ident was played right through with no dogs. yipee. i also saw the countdown start from 75. i thought the scrolling aston to welcome bbc one viewers was good.

Ok, well close-to-hand (ie not on a CDR at the bottom of a box somewhere) I only have the audio of the idents, but I do also have the video idents - it's just a question of WHERE!!
With any luck I'll have found them soon, if not I'll get them off the VHS.
The audio Idents I have, and will send, are:
Ice, Fire (extended - about 20 seconds in total), Lasers, Ocean, and the single-used trailer sting. All are in crystal-clear stereo, except Fire (typical that it would be the extended one) but I was out at a party when it was played, so I had to get it off the VHS and the quality just went down the pan (LP mode!!)
Anyway, I'm rabbiting on now so I'll shut up. I'll be posting those files tonight (hopefully), and, yes! I do have the news ident somewhere!!

I presume the aston must have appeared on BBC News 24, because (AFAIK) it's just the one feed going to BBC ONE, News 24 and World. This means that BBC World viewers were welcomed too!!
I would love it if you could please send over those clips - fantastic! TV Home is on an extended break for a little while so if you wanted to upload it to some webspace you have, then post the URL here, I think many members would be grateful!

Erm..not sure about this one! I doubt N24 would have shown it to World and N24 viewers themselves so maybe BBC One got another feed? But then again, N24 always used to say 'Welcome to viewers of BBC One who have just joined us' so I'm not sure! Was it a normal N24-looking aston? And although a nice idea, surely the BBC One announcer explained what viewers would see?
when the long ident was played it was just the usual 'now on bbc one, through the night with bbc news 24' then the intro played and lasted about 45 seconds before freezing on the n24 logo. it then about 15 seconds later went into abc news tonight and a usual looking n24 aston appeared and a message scrolled along like the headlines do when n24 shows a recorded programme saying 'a warm welcome to viewers on bbc one, there will be a full news bulletin at 02.00 after world news tonight.
