Did anyone notice yesterday BBC ONE were doing a lot of fading between idents and promos (and programmes I think) for some of the day instead of cutting to black or cutting straight to them?

"V" fades are used dozens of times a day on BBC ONE and TWO in and out of trails, idents and programmes.

I did notice the fading from a trailer straight to the ident; far more noticeable than the cutting straight to the ident which is more common.

Usually there doesn't seem to be a direct fade transition - if trailers fade, they fade out to black first and then the ident fades in from there.

The opt outs are straight cut from network to regional source.

They have to be cuts to trigger the digital bays to switch Wink

Additionally the first couple of lines of active picture often display peak white during transitions , something is not right with the A-B vision switcher. Only noticeable watching in 16L12 on Sky or Freeview boxes, but also there as seen via Dutch cable TV output (by virtue of them presenting the image as 16L12 on their analogue feeds)
