This presentation slot needs attention - The end of the News is OK but then it darts around all over the place - trailer, weather, trailer, trailer , caption, trailer, trailer.
It's dizzy making - An additional minute or two could be added to the news and why don't they put together a proper evening ahead menu as it used to be.

Does anyone else get confused by this?
Chris.
It's not a particularly good setup, but it doesn't bother me because I never watch the 6PM Hour on BBC1. The idea of Sophie Rayworth and Carol Malia in 1 hour mortifies me...

Regional News, National News, trail, weather, trails. Not that complicated, is it?

That's except for viewers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
I find it bizarre how they occasionally throw together a quick trailer for a programme (A Question of Sport, to pick one example), and say that that is "Next, on BBC One". Then, there's the weather, then a couple of trailers, and then there's one of those nasty menu boards (re-iterating that A Question of Sport is on next...), before a couple more trailers before the programme itself starts.
It doesn't make sense to show a trailer for something coming up next, especially on the BBC (where there shouldn't really be that much time between programmes), and especially if they advertise it a couple of trailers later in the menu!!
I am bewildered at the way in which BBC One continues to increasingly seem like a commercial channel what with all these trailers and captions (I counted 8 or 9 in a row a couple of weeks ago!!) - it is sacreligious not to take advantage of one of the BBC's greatest assets - not having the burden of commercials!!! Watching BBC One should make you feel privaleged, not as if it's just another channel. Making the BBC's flagship channel seem like their commercial rivals is not going to help the cause for the Licence Fee....

Don't get me started on the 'commercial' feeling that the BBC is beginning to generate. My God - the ECPs for their most popular shows (most notably EastEnders, Holby City and Casualty) can in my opinion actually be WORSE and more intrusive than ITV's!!!
Are there actually a heck of a lot more promos on BBC1 now, or are they just more noticeable because of the way they are frequently run back-to-back?
There are fewer trails, run more often, with more in each junction than there used to be.
I remember being in a meeting about six years ago when it was revealed that the maximum number of trails in a junction was going be increased from two to three, and everyone was amazed at how commercial that seemed..!
But there's no substitute for live announcements in many cases. Why can't we have more announcer input, particularly in "difficult" junctions ie. the link-ups with News 24?
I'm guessing that dreadful BBC Digital Radio promo was done by an external agency. Can anyone confirm?
The BBC should just do the following:
18:00 - Announcement into national news.
18:00-18:30 - BBC News, including national weather as the final item in the programme.
18:29:40 - Newscaster: That's it; the news where you are follows. (or something similar)
18:29:50 - Closing titles.
18:30 - Welcome to <regional news programme>. (Programme ends at 18:59).
