Here is an error that happened on BBC one Wales last night (Friday).

Step one:
The ident starts up and after a long pause, the announcer says:  'That's it from BBC One tonight, so from me Steve Watt and the rest of the BBC Wales team, have a very good night'

Step two
In the middle of that very nostalgic goodnight speech, the ident disappeared BUT the URL stayed onscreen for a couple of seconds before going black.

Step three
The details of the next ident appeared on screen!!!

Step four
Another ident appeared and the announcer said 'we'll it was obvious that I wasn't expecting that!  Anyway, we never go to sleep at BBC One, so to take us through the night, it's News 24.

Ah! Great stuff - a nice little personal comment from the announcer. I wish I saw that!

LOL - TV Forum's very own Geraint was announcing on BBC 1 Wales analogue last night, but at around midnight they hand over to BBC 1 Wales digital.

Geraint seems to be prone to the odd late night cockup too Wink

I see the BBC call them idents too! Im suprised they dont have VT clocks. I saw a similar caption on L&K once, precceding a music video!

May it be noted that I guessed the name of the announcer, as I couldn't be bothered to check! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

if only bbc one england closedowns were as exciting!

im presuming that the ' numbers means seconds - so does that mean (5 x 4) = 20 + 30 = 50 seconds in total?

i thought bbc ones were 30 or 40seconds long?

The 5 seconds is the jingle and then the symbol (that's what they are called at the beeb) continues for 30 seconds.

They are categorised as Con+5, Con+4 etc.

If they needed a 10 second ident and they used a con+5, then the annopuncer could only say 5 seconds before the programme.
