As BBC ONE and TWO now bradcast in Ireland i was wondering how much it costs them or do they pay the same price as the licence fee. Also what do they get for regional news. Im sure they dont recieve UK Today. I wondered if the BBC produce a seperate news program or just put a different program in that slot. I think BBC ONE and TWO are on Sky Digital channels 215 and 216 in Eire. If anyone has any info i would love to know.

EIRE customers receive BBC One and Two Northern Ireland on Sky Digital I believe, their receiver cards are authorised to receive these - but not BBCs Choice, Knowledge and News 24. BBC Parliament is not encrypted - so is receivable (though may not be in the EPG and may have to be added using Add Channels)

EIRE BBC viewers will therefore get Newsline as their local news programme. There is no need for the BBC to broadcast any extra programmes for EIRE viewers.

I have no idea how much money the BBC get from Sky subscriptions in EIRE. I would doubt that it is the same as the license fee - but then the BBC does not get a large amount from viewers of BBC One/Two in continental Europe (Netherlands, Belgium etc) either. (BBC One/Two are broadcast on Cable in many areas of BeneLux and there is a 'cable' agreement to cover this. I am not confusing BBC One/Two with World and Prime! I have seen Newsroom SouthEast in Holland!)

Yeah, I've watched Look East in Holland too. People in Holland get mentioned on Look East quite a lot.

When I was in Belgium we got Newsroom South East. I also got Carlton sometimes (depended on where I was living at the time)

To answer the original question, people in the Republic of Ireland (please not Eire, we don't call Scotland and Wales Alba and Cymru in English, now do we) with Sky Digital get BBC ONE Northern Ireland and BBC TWO Northern Ireland on channels 214, and 215, if and only if they have the Sky Family Pack. Value pack and the other cheaper pack customers do not recieve these channels. FTV cards are not available in ROI. These two channels are also available as part of the basic pack of all cable systems in ROI with the exception of four towns which recieve BBC Wales instead. They will also be available on DTT when it starts up next year, but will not be FTA, people in ROI will have to pay for them.

As for BBC PARLIAMENT, it is not in the EPG and neither is any BBC Radio station (other than the World Service). However they are available via 'Add Channels', with the exception of Radio 5 which is not available at all in ROI on Satellite (although it is piped on cable systems and can be heard on AM).
