Sky Digital; BBC ONE Scotland - Instead of showing Sportscene as listed on the Beeb's site, a message reads:

" This programme is not available on some digital services ", and comments on how it can still be viewed on analogue, Freeview or cable.

This is the first time I have seen such a screen, which currently has an ambient background and music.

Can anyone clue me in on why this has occurred?

All down to broadcasting rights - ie, the rights are for it to be viewed in Scotland only - but due to technical reasons viewers in Scotland can't view it on BBC1 Scotland on Digital Satellite so you have to watch on analogue or Freeview

Rights problems.

Selanta have satelite rights.

Beeb can only broadcast certain Scottish sports progs on DTT & analogue, within Scotland.

Selanta get very cross otherwise!

Drat, beaten to it!

The same used to happen on BBC 2 NI digital when the BBC used to have the rights for Gaelic football in The North of Ireland.

Wasnt the programme in question highlights of Scotlands match against Belarus? If it was it was on Sky Sports not Setanta anyway.

Are Powergen Cup matches available nationwide on S4C? If not why don't the BBC cross-promote them like they do on BBC 2 Wales?
