Happened to flick on last night about 1120pm.

After 5 mins, they went to the film, saying 'We're running early!'

(Good job I didn't video timer the film !)

Any idea what happened, to make them run early?

indeed, they continued to run early throughout the sign zone. not very clever for the deaf viewers who set their videos.

LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL was 10 minutes shorter than originally scheduled.

Have we run out of filler programmes?

I can't remember the last time a filler ran on peaktime BBC ONE - running early seems to be the preferred option.

Could an extra trail or 2 not be added each junction? Pad things out a bit, 10secs more of ident etc?

Normally that is how small underruns are dealt with....

...but a 10 minute underrun would require a bit more than just an extra trail or 2.

Personally I think a 10 minute filler would be much better than annoying the audience by running 10 minutes early.

I wouldn't exactly call 11.30pm peaktime!

When this happened on ITV1 during the regional era they often showed a filler programme. Programmes like Simply Gardening or Star Bites would put in an appearance.

Was it too late for a couple of episodes of Tom & Jerry?

Or how about 10 minutes of menu & music?

Maybe but it's certainly not daytime, when they may have run a filler. Of course it's not possible to run early for more than a few hours in daytime, as the news bulletins are fixed points in the schedule.
