Or for The One Show to have created an opt point for those regions who had been able to do their full programme to be able to join cleanly with the presenters acknowledging that they had joined and reintroducing the guest.
Sounds like a slightly bizarre solution found for the regions. There was a great deal of controversy when on 2nd Wednesday this year, Wimbledon reduced the regions to a 5 minute bulletin just before 7pm. For BBC South it was a particular problem as they had one of the biggest stories of the year that night (the Heather Barnett trial result) and had prepared a very in depth series of reports, backgrounders, live inserts etc). Preparing a half-hour of programming, only to be reduced to 5 minutes is something only the network would do to the regions!! Anyway, perhaps there was a similar view expressed by some Heads of Regions following the last strike. 5 minutes across the board seems unfair to centres with a full-ish complement of staff. However it's probably better than giving a flexible opt slot option to everyone, with the One Show being a sustaining service - it's hardly fair to the viewer who get dumped into a programme part-way through. Still at least the BBC can claim that fewer programmes were affected this time - by saying that certain programmes were on-air for their full duration.
For the past three weeks BBC One have been showing The One Show: Best of Britain at 7pm. They made 15 episodes of this. On Tuesday 26 July BBC One showed Olympics 2012: One Year to Go so only 14 episodes of The One Show: Best of Britain were shown. Why didn't they just use the unbroadcast episode of The One Show: Best of Britain as filler on Monday?

How do you know they made 15, and not 14 eps of TOS:BOB ?

The Sky EPG showed the episode numbers and showed of 15. The programme information website also suggests the same.

It was only in London they opted out for the Olympic debate, but I agree that was obvious filler not just for London but the rest of the regions considering a repeat would air in the slot anyway.

There's some confusion here, aren't we talking about the 30 min London2012 programme with Sophie Raworth, and Jake Humphery that went out nationally 19:00 to 19:30 Wed 27th ?
