Which regional BBC ONE idents do you get in your region before the start of regional news?

In the North West we get a couple - either the cliff face one, or the water one which is used more and more. We also sometimes get the one over fields and houses. We rarely get the Blackpool Tower one, which is silly, as its in the region! I think we should have one flying over Liverpool. You would see the Liver Buildings, the docks, the Cathedrals, Anglican and Catholic ('Paddy's Wigwam' ) and the Radio City Tower - its an idea!!

I normally get the BBC Scotland one where the balloon floats over the Forth Rail Bridge - either that or the one over the castle.

As someone said in another thread, it's always the river one now before Newsroom South East, I'm getting bored of it!!!

Hopefully we'll have some different ones soon.

In Wales you can get pretty much anything (they have their own continuity) although i have rarely seen the canary wharf ident being shown.

In the East Midlands we usually get the ident where the ballon rises slowly up from the botton of the screen to the top.  having lived in Nottingham for the last 9 months this is the only one i've seen before EMT at 6.30pm (although i maybe wrong:? )

BBC East Midlands also seem to be using some old pre-rec continuity announcements.  We often here 'Now on One' instead of 'Now on BBC One'.  They probably took a Mini Disc copy of the Carts they left behind at their old studios in York House which can still be found there now:D !

The Midlands have only two idents used regularly!

The first is the one over a lot of houses and the balloon moves away from the camera. Not the one that is close up and fills half the screen at the beginning but is more over the top of it. If that makes sense.

The second is the one with where all the rivers meet, with a small balloon.

At the weekend, I did see that they appeared to use another but I haven't seen it since. Its the one where the balloon is landing on a load of grass next to a little lake. (or something like that) Most commonly used as by BBC ONE East

Talking of BBC ONE East, they tend to use the one mentioned above or the Felixstowe one.

I woul list some other regions but I'm not honestly sure if I would get them all and they are very hard to describe!

Actually, could all future listings refer to the TV Room and in English 8, or whatever it is.

Canary Wharf is shown frequently in Wales! There are two versions of it - both shown at regular times.

One flying over liverpool would be boss. I reacon it should start from the mersey, with the balloon quite close up and then cut to it on a reasonably wide city shot, but make sure that the balloon is out of the way of the Radio City tower!

To be honest, I've never seen them use the blackpool tower one before North West tonight, when ever I see it is' usually a fields one, but I don't watch it every night Smile

Cheers,

Here in BBC North Leeds we seem to often have the hills and moors one where it zooms across....

In BBC North Newcastle there are a few and I heard that the BBC Balloon was at a balloon festival there and they were filming a brand new ident across the new Gateshead Millennium Bridge (The Blinking Eye).
