Bikers. It's as close to a perfect ident as there is.

Ring A Ring O Roses' music is beginning to piss me off now.

The problem is, as I suspected when I first saw the video for Bikes, is that ten seconds of build-up before the circle and the logo form is too much. As we have seen, it's too long for most junctions, and over time seeing those sequences over and over again will become as tedious as the dancers.

I would like to see the shortened versions, that we see before the news, become the norm in most junctions rather than the exception - it works for BBC2!

Mine has to be Surfers followed by Bikes.

Bikers wins for me. It's got the better arrangement of music, and the way it does the circles seems to flow better and is a bit more realistic Smile

There is no ident called "Petals". It's called Ring-a-roses.

On this occasion, I think it's better not to blame the topic starter, and instead have a word with whoever set up this page on the BBC One site:

Laughing

As for the idents, it's too close to call between two (Moon and Kites); so I think I'll refrain from voting until i've made my mind up!

Definitely echo the above comments. Caught a few junctions while on my hols this week and the anno was just starting at any random point. One seemed to be trying to say "BBC One" as the logo formed but leave that one to C4 - it doesn't work when you have idents designed to have a blatant point for the anno to begin!

What I can't believe is that the designers didn't have a copy of the Radio Times to hand to see that some junctions (ie mid-morning news) simply can't have 25sec idents! I've not seen the botched Kites yet but looking at some of them, there's certainly room to go back to the editing suite with a shorter music score and do proper shorter versions.

Can't say I'm particular impressed with the ident use immediately after a programme either. Nice con, given a viewer (possibly) thinking the next programme is about to start. A mixture of rushes from some of the idents with new style "NEXT" of whatever would work well IMO.

Hmm, well the Wales bit on the menu thingyo now really is miniscule, which is a bit strange

Do Wales not use the horrible white sketch design then? Always thought that one looked better.

No, not that I have ever seen.

Mind you they did start off with those programme previews for the week ahead when they started early last year but soon stopped.

Prehaps the solution to the problem is
1) To cut to the part where the logo actually forms up, that allows for the CA to talk.
2) Let the CA talk over the menu, then intergrate into the ident.

Also I think RED BEE didn't really think about the CA's when they were making them.
