I'm not too sure about the length of the idents either as I'm sure there will be no possible way of having near-full playouts for every junction, though it is nice to see a decent length on their opening day.


Novel idea, but perhaps if they cut down to just 23 trailers at each junction they could do it!


Talking of that, no sign of any balloon style short bumpers! Shame really, as the ever increasing programme junctions could do with breaking up a bit!

There wasn't a set with the dancers, though they always had them as part of their Christmas presentation.

Agree - even Kites in it's regular formation would work better - or as has been said, just a simple animated general ident. It wouldn't take much to create one - they are half way there with the trailers!

There was a set with the dancers. They were used enthusiastically for the first week or so, after which they couldn't be arsed.

Now that is a very good idea or have people floating in space putting the Earth together. And as Hippo has proved to be so popular maybe they should bring them back doing something else and maybe we should have some penguins.

Actually, odd thing into MOTD there: for a split second between the ident and the MOTD titles, there's a black screen with '09:59:58:16' in small letters at the bottom left. Was that related to the ident, or the titles?


The BBC tape guidelines are that the programme should start at timecode 10:00:00:00. Probably to do with some VT - the titles or a later insert cut up accidentally - as part of MOTD as that's an OB, anything pres related would probably be off a server these days.

There definally needs to be a shorter version of the Moon ident, as before the news the announcer was talking for ages before the BBC One formed up.

It'll be interesting to see what they'll do at 1, 6 & 10, as that ident only used to be 10 seconds long

They're good idents, but I strongly suspect that BBC One pres will treat them badly. How long do you suppose it'll be before they don't bother showing the form-ups at most junctions? A month? Less?

And the Football ident is destined for an early withdrawal, isn't it?

Yeah it's a good point; unless they have made the shorter versions we keep pipping on about!
