BBC One Rebrand

Theres alot of speculation and rumours going around about the start date of the new idents.

Over on Digital Spy forums theres a rumour date of Saturday 4th March - The date many new shows start including Dalziel & Pasco, Waterloo Road, My Family, Hustle & Mayo and Planet Earth.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

Maybe this is true, not forgetting the Rhythm and Dance Idents were only revealed 3 days before they were going to be put on air. But then again this rebrand could be something small such as new End trails or diffrent shade of red on the box ?

Ive just read that thread over on Digital Spy as well.

Could it coincide with a new look for BBC TWO as well? The end of the winter olympics ident is approaching soon and the BBC TWO website has lost all traces of yellow. Could we see the yellow idents return for a few days before new ones start?

Well, that's the end of that discussion....

No-one has a clue. All we can do is speculate.

Just thought I'd mention, the current idents seem to be getting longer playouts at the end of the night now.

A day or two ago was a showing of Skateboarders with the usual handover announcement at the start, but the ident was left to play for several seconds afterwards. Just now, the skaters again, but this time the first 20 seconds or so was left to play, with the announcer, I think it was Nicola Phoenix, coming in after that point.

If Dean Lydiate left a huge clean gap like that before he started speaking then most idents would overrun their duration by a long way, considering his announcements into the handover are often more lengthy than others!

Well whatever date BBC ONE launch their new idents, the royal family had better be on their guard - the last time they launched a new set of idents, the Queen Mother died the next day! (probably from shock when she realised that the balloon had gone!)

Still doesn't beat Newsround's relaunch death record. They relaunched in 1997, with the death of Princess Diana as their whole programme, and the last proper relaunch in 2002 brought with it the death of Princess Margeret, and it hasn't changed since.

Is that a clue to the new theme?

at the end of Child of our Time this week, the bbc logo came up but surrounded by clouds, is this a new ident,and it looks pretty similar to the one on bbc 2 i saw where a channel 4 box esque slid across the screen with the apprentice on it and had a nwe bbc ident under it which is identical to the new website with the 2 peeling away

that is the default BBC logo. It appears normally when they break something.

Do you like it? I made it myself. I should really have negotiated a deal whereby I get a royalty each time it is used.
