This morning at 0100, BBC One joined BBC News 24 on the dot of the hour, no countdown, just straight into the news bulletin. Is this the first time they have done this?

I wish I'd seen that.

Usually following the BBC One balloon verbal handover, there's a News24 sting with no 'graffiti' (clock etc) in the three corners, which remains until a convenient opt-in point.

I've never known BBC One to join News24 at such a convenient moment - it's always something stupid like 01:05 that they join.

This always makes me think: 'If they didn't have their stupid 'Weatherview' (after all, who gives a stuff about weather at silly o'clock?), they could have joined on the dot of the hour!'

Nah, I've seen it a few times now where they've got to the hour without a countdown or anything. Always sad when I look at the clock and the balloon doesn't appear until xx:59:50!

What shocked me was seeing how much Heather McCarthy has changed since leaving BBC South. She looks like she's had a plastic bag melted over her face. Very scary.

I've seen then come out of weather view and then go straight into weather on News24. Now that's really stupid.

I don't understand how they can get away with saying 'through the night now on BBC ONE we join BBC News 24' - surely we're joining BBC World, because it's world news that's being broadcast for the first half hour, along with World furniture: vamps, idents and tags. Surely they should say something like: 'This is BBC ONE joining World News from the studios of BBC News 24' ... or something!

What they say is accurate and true. You are joining N24.
If anything, it should be N24 who mention World News in the intro.
But then again, 'This is BBC News' covers everything doesn't it?

Err, not quite true Mark! Smile We see generic presentation - not N24/World specific (apart from the back half-hours)

Yes, it comes from the News 24 studio. It uses BBC News ident, not BBC World News (there is a difference!).
