Oh for Christ's sake, people, BBC One are going from a stale, boring image to an exciting, diverse, modern look and all that you seem to bother about is that they don't have a sodding balloon in them! The theme of red is excellent, a really innovative idea. I can't wait to hear the music, as I just know it will be dramatic and will work well.
I can't wait, and you know my usual cynicism about the BBC!
PS. Asa, that 'Not So Good Friday' banner thing is just disturbing! Good riddance to the balloons I say.
Have you seen this woman? If you do, you are advised to go up to her and give her a good ole slap for the balloons. Lorraine Hedgehog escaped from a nursing home 4 years ago and subsequently became controller of BBC One. She has no idea about what is good and what is bad and needs her medication constantly. You help us help her - and you in the long turn. Capture Lorraine Hedgehog now.
She also apparantly wants to get rid of 'Cheesy Presenters'
Peter Levy remarked that if that was the case, He'll be out of a job soon!!
Yes, I saw Look North yesterday afternoon. Good old Peter Levy, cheesy or not - he's there to stay. Even if he ends up only cleaning the Look North set! They'll never get shot of him.

Some of you have been very 'polite' and said you'll reserve judgement, which under normal circumstances from a set of stills, I would agree with you. But this isn't normal, and I must say what my gut reaction is.
Absolutely
SHAMEFUL
. Firstly, we were only just starting to get back to a hoherient look with the boxes on the right hand side of the screen for 2 and 4. What the hell is going to happen with these trailers when they are shown on News 24 - which they inevitably will - the answer, the ONE will be slightly covered up by the clock.
And as for the actual image itself - I really can't think of a word that I could use that wouldn't result in this thing blanking it. I guess in a way the 'globe' theme has kind of survived from the fact traditions from all corners of the world are being represented, but it doesn't seem very 'BBCish' - more the kinda thing I'd perhaps expect on the Discovery channel.
I said only last night I thought we'd seen an end to channels having an identity which will last for a good period of time. I really can't see the current set of BBC2 idents lasting longer than this November, I don't watch BBC2 very much these days but something about these already seem very samely and generally stale.
BBC4 can easily be adapted for each season, and now we've seen some of the new look for BBC ONE, I really, really can't see it lasting long after... well, frankly, I hope it won't last long after Easter, but more seriously I only give these 6-12 months. BBC ONE will never be the same again - and I don't think for the better on first impressions.

They apparently have a 'serious' ident tailored for news, so that'll be interesting - unless the clock is saved!
Def no clock! Our region has been supplied with Capoeira - the brazilian dancers - for use as the ident before the news.
Well then, BBC ONE is duming down. If BBC ONE / Lambie-Nairn think it is acceptable to introduce news, current affairs and serious programming with idents featuring people dancing around like prats, then they are bloody well mistaken.
P.S. If they use something different to introduce these programmes when the new look goes live, which is more acceptable, then I will of course retract all that I have said above

RDD said: Oh, I know all the idents are available in NI, its just that in evening peak we seem to see more green scenery in NI then the English city-type ones. Still haven't answered my question: will 'Northern Ireland' be written on the idents or not?
As I said, the same idents used by the network are used in NI... generally at the same time too, so there's no real difference in the frequency of local idents over any others, although local programmes may well have NI idents introducing them.
