I've seen this trail on BBC One a couple of times now which starts with some guy dropping into the picture on to some gravel ?? It says 'The ONE' what's that all about ?? Or am I just dense ??
I've seen a couple of the new idents ..... they are 'not very good'.
Bring back the balloon, which was famous in the UK and also abroad.

not to keen on ballet, but the rest are nice, i have fallen in love with the carnaval music from the NI montage, but this new theme is great, it took a few listens till i noticed its the same theme throughout the idents, just in a different music style to suit the ident, i assumed this would be the case...
(continuing rant) ...And what's with all this ethnic stuff? Is it meant to appeal to minorities or something? A friend of mine who's of an ethnic background thinks they're awful as well!!

I too approached these new idents with an open mind, and I hate the whole dance theme.
The red box looks good, but I don't know if I'm alone in feeling confused, but I can't work out whether I'm watching a trailer or an ident!
And what's with that music and a bloke jumping onto a roof? (It looks like my old comprehensive school!)
I've noticed that BBC ONE NI, Wales, & Scotland all have their own trailers, and no longer network ones. Rather confusing I think.
The only ident I vaguely like is the one where a load of girls are dropping from a ceiling waving red material. The idents I've seen so far today are so indistinguishable I cannot remember them!!!!
At least with the balloon you could remember the locations. Another thing about the balloon, is when the announcer spoke for a long while we saw a bit more of the scenery than we would normally which was nice.
I've a good mind to phone/email the BBC right now and complain!
Incidentally, I see that on digital, we got a split second of the BBC ONE LDN ident instead of the network and also, since when have LDN had a 'holiday' opening titles? (Different from the usual two?)

So does that mean the satellite feed (which shows the network ident) opts out of the analogue and digital terrestrial feed (which show the London ident), rather than the other way round? And did DSat use the Capeiro (probably spelt wrong) ident as well?
(By the way that's the first time I've seen those LDN titles so they must be new for today).

Granted, I haven't seen the idents full screen and played over and over again, but I don't think they're

bad. I don't think anything could have topped the balloon, but I didn't think it was time for a change either…
I've listened to the files of the idents a few times now and I still can't recognise any universal tune…I'll get it eventually I suppose.
What really bothers me though is that the beeb completely dumped the globe. It's complete destruction of a channel's epic identity. NBC would never drop the peacock in a million years, nor would CBS drop the eye or ABC drop the familiar circle. Some branding/identity consultants Lambie-Nairn are! Who in their right mind would suggest that?
Ah well, I think it would be very nice to finally get the balloon mp3s online now. That music was extraordinary.
Could anyone capture and post shots from the promos, since I'm stuck in tv-hell America? Thanks.

And a little tribute from me. My favourite balloon ident was the south downs one, and it's probably the nicest music of the ident set.
