Oh dear... that'll be fun! A couple of Brazilian dancers jumping around on a rock after a major disaster: 'Now on BBC ONE (reeba!) the BBC News with (olay!) Huw Edwards'

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed, but I'm still reserving judgement for now. It's ashame that these new idents don't have something like the balloon to bring them all together, and they aren't much of a talking point as the BBC Balloon is. Still looking forward to seeing them in full, though!

Notes to Editors

A history of the BBC ONE idents is available.

Images are available, for press use only, on the BBC bulletin board via the Specials folder.

Where is this bulletin board

That's exactly what I was thinking - but surely its password protected or something?

i'm sure some helpful BBC Bods may be able to give us versions of the images, without giving us passwords or access to the press publicity stills...

They apparently have a 'serious' ident tailored for news, so that'll be interesting - unless the clock is saved!

Def no clock!  Our region has been supplied with Capoeira - the brazilian dancers - for use as the ident before the news.

How do you know?

Perhaps you should wait until Thursday lunchtime before passing judgement.

Personally I think they look fab - no more computer generated cack. (although BBC 2's new ones are nice)

But why is that box on the left? surely it will clash with the BBC News 24 clock during trailer playouts for BBC1? Confused

Mid-morning to be exact.

Brazilian Dancers. British television. Yes, I'd say that makes a nice match, don't you?

Very Happy

Though I have to agree with others here that I'm glad they went with live-action promos instead of computer-generated stuff. I'm getting quite tired of CG after seeing it ALL THE TIME here in the U.S. I'd be surprised if the networks even owned cameras anymore.

The Balloons weren't computer generated though! (duh) and I think the News 24 Clock will either stop being shown during promos or they are planning on moving it to the top right or something.
