I'm willing to put a penny bet on it being Monday - Seems to be that all new BBC things almost always start on Mondays...
Nah, didn't the balloon and the '1' launch on a Saturday ?

Yep, the 90's 1 and 2 were first broadcast on the morning of Saturday Feburary 16 1991, and the balloons and current BBC logo launched on Saturday October the somethingth 1997.
However, the new BBC TWO look, with the purple box, started on a Monday. So who knows? There's always the other very slim possiblity they'll do it like in 1986 when the COW debuted in prime time, and the Christmas idents have been launching on Friday nights lately. But my guess is a Saturday morning with the fair chance of a Monday, in which case it'd be the 11th. And about the point that CBBC's already launching on that day - well, the BBC used to always relaunch pretty much everything except the news on the same day. I know that's not happening anymore, what with BBC TWO already having a major re-jig, but it's by no means impossible that they'd do it on the same day as CBBC (and indeed Newsround) relaunching.
Tommorrow morning? Well, there's always that interesting new Saturday night promo we got excited about (see other thread!)but the problem with that is if the balloons are going and a new look's coming in, there's bound to be a little pre-publicity in somewhere like Broadcast, or The Broadcast as someone at Carlton called it in an email to me today..
As for the thing about getting bits of the new look getting in early - well actually it's pretty unusual if it is, the BBC along with Sky and Channel Four are very good about this sort of thing. They always make two different versions of a trailer for the same programme or line-up, one with the old look and one with the new look, so I'd say it would be lazy if they didn't do it this time if it wasn't for the fact they're busy launching another bunch of channels at the same time.

Over the last 20 years BBC1 relaunches have taken place on:
1981 - a Tuesday (day after a bank holiday)
1985 - a Monday at 7.00pm
1991- a Saturday at 9.00am
1997 - a Saturday at 7.00am
Certainly the last three of those (the ones that I can remember) have all been preceded by press reports about the impending change, so I wouldn't expect things to change this weekend or Monday.
The BBC week runs Saturday-Friday so they like to change things on Saturdays; but then BBC2's relaunch was on a Monday so who knows?
I'd prefer a Saturday change to a Monday one so I'm actually able to stay in and watch it!

I'll inform the seamstresses to get ready with the duvet patterns....
Kath, I've told you before, Lorraine Hedgehog is having them made into blankets for her dog's baskets!
I hope the next 30 days go slowly - Do anything but don't get rid of the balloons please!!!!!
Cheers, Asa
Um, I don't wish to sound pessimistic, but I think you might have to get your wallet out. Maybe you can buy the balloon on the BBC and start up a hot air balloon hire company!
Now there's an idea! I wonder what they'll do with the balloon once the new idents are on screen. Honestly, they can't through away miles of cotton just like that! I'd give anything for a ride in it, let alone buy it.
I agree that the launch date of the new idents could be February 11th. Perhaps one of the BBC's forthcoming historic days...?
Am I the Only one who don't like the baloon. Keep the Globe but not in Baloon Form.
I don't much like the balloons either, but it's been more or less confirmed that the Balloons will be the last incarnation of the globe, so no more balloons=no more globe, and whether that also means no more clocks I don't know.
