I also take the syle of the programme into account rather than jsut the filming & lighting stlye, and I never really see soaps as being in the right sort of show for the filmic look to be used, even if it is lit properly and set up. Admittadly, 20 minutes is not long enough for a full judgement, but I just didn't think it fits in well with the style of the show. From the 20 minutes I did see, I don't think the filmic style looked right, and even though I don't know what it looked like before, I think it would look better if they did ditch the filmic look & lighting style.
Some people are experiencing problems with the BBC ONE regions - I believe it's mainly those who are in an ex-Cable and Wireless area... according to NTHellworld, NTL are looking into this...

I am in a Cable and Wireless area and we never seem to have any problems with it, it's been fine since Tuesday, the only thing which went wrong was that the EPG was displaying 'No Schedule Data Available' for most of yesterday morning.
I watched River City again today, and it hink I can safely say the show would be much better if the filmic look was gone. No matter how much effore the production team have put in so it looks good, I just don't think it gels with the format of the programme. The only reason I can think of it being added was to raise people's perceptions of the show, obvioulsy from what I've seen, people don't seem to think much of it, though I don't think it is that bad, it's a change to Walford, Holby, Sun Hill & Weatherfield.
I believe the fault I mentioned earlier was only affecting part of the ex-Cable and Wireless area, mainly the old Videotron area - and I'm pleased to report the problem was fixed at about 5pm this afternoon.
I wonder what will happen to the NTL feed outside Scotland when a programme is on, like the football, where the Beeb only have rights within the country?
Will it get blanked out a la satellite, I wonder, or will it be allowed to continue as the cable only supplies people within the UK?
I think it will need to be blanked out like satellite, as the BBC only have rights for SPL matches in Scotland, except for Old Firm matches. The UK-wide rights for SPL games are held by Setanta Sports.
This seems to be the case. BBC ONE Scotland showed a "This programe is not available on digital satellite" caption for most of this afternoon. I note that the CA made a point of saying that they were also "on digital satellite" when we rejoined them.

I saw some of this too, it kinda reminds me of the old Sky Premier downtime music when they played the music and background out for about 12 hours a day straight. It was rather odd to see Points Of View at 5.10pm, but I was confused that the News went out at 4.55pm on England, Wales and NI, while it went out at 6.10pm on Scotland, was this a repeat or specially done for BBC Scotland?
