The Match Of The Day programme on BBC ONE appears to be suffering intermittent picture break up.  No on screen apology caption but Gary Linekar has already apologised.  It appears to happen with fades to VT in particular...and *appears* to be restricted to the periods where we have links from the studio itself.

What little football the BBC has...this is a tad embarrassing.

Hmm have the beeb been having problems all night? As BBC News 24, BBC Choice, BBc Parliament and Bravo (for some strange reason) are all broadcasting black!!!

Anyone know whats happening up there?

Sky's coverage seems so much better than the Beeb's - a bit more lively.
And more closeups...

I noticed the screen kept going to black between shots in the studio after the game - presumably a fault with the vision mixer?

Are Sky showing their own thing? Unusual because one broadcaster is normally the host to the match and provides coverage that all can use. Then the individual broadcasters, including the host, then add their own commentry and studios etc. for their own channels

Suspect a fault with the MOTD scanner. When the Beeb do a location game AND also present MOTD from the same ground it is common for them to send two scanners (Scanners = OB trucks).

One concentrates purely on covering the game - and tonight this all looked clean.

The other concentrates on the MOTD studio coverage, and sometimes some of the slow motion replays, certainly the non-in-match slowmos. Tonight these sequences seemed to suffer from the problems - I guess there was a fault with the sources into this scanner. There seemed to be vision problems on both analogue and digital - so probably casued before the link back to TVC.

Yes, Sky were the host broadcaster. The pictures were the same, hence the terrible MOTD logo going into the replays to 'blank out' Sky's own replay er bumpers (??)

Ahh but you're forgetting the wonders of 'player cam'.
Amazing invention.

The Sky Sports bumpers (if that's the correct word) look excellent, must have taken a while to produce one for almost every team they cover.

Would they need to blank out bumpers, though? Wouldn't Sky or SNTV (who I think are contracted to get cameras out to matches for Sky) just provide a clean version?

Not sure, but they were definatley Sky's replays. The BBC bumpers(?) are normally better than what they had tonight. I guess it would be difficult to have Sky's replays in a 'clean feed'.

From what you've all said, it sounds like it was a synchronisation problem between sources
