My understanding, and I stand to be corrected, is that it's not used any more because it was the ident they used prior to announcing the death of the Queen Mother. .

I doubt that is the reason, it's more that it is to slow for use before most programmes

The ballet ident has been used leading into the news here in the north east for the past few days now, so it hasnt been withdrawn up here!

That's terrible! Shocked

I actually think that Acrobats should be taken off completely. Why? Because children watch BBC One and they, particularly toddlers, like to copy what they see. This ident is nothing short of a recipe for disaster.

Besides, the Millennium Show ended with the dome three years ago. Wink

This is a valid point but surely you don't suggest that everything should be censored just because children are watching do you? I can appreciate your thinking and yes, it is terrible that a tragedy occurred during a similar display, but what about the olympics? children watch boxing too, and the "This Morning" programme when a knife thrower threw so many knives it resulted in a slight accident. All these things could be copied by children and anyone else come to think of it. parents should teach their children what is wrong and what is right, what is dangerous and what is safe. Children should be taught the real values of life like courtesy, discipline, respect, manners and the ability to understand the things that could and would harm them.

avoiding them to watch things like "The Sixth Sense" that ITV1 showed a couple of weeks ago is far more important than making them avoid a twelve second ident of acrobats climbing down ribbons.

however, I am not complaining about your comment because it is a valid point. I just think that we are all a little over sensitive over the wrong things these days.

Why? Did it come across as sarcasm? If so I apologise. I was just trying to make a valid point. I got myself in trouble just before Christmas taking the mickey out of this particular ident and was told of the tragedy by yourself and square eyes. I just keep on tripping over my feet don't I. Still, never mind. there's always the bumper car wheelchair ident. That could be really dangerous......

Ok then, I'll stop crying now. i was developing a persecution complex. Good idea about the wheelchairs though. It could work really well (Oh God I've turned into Linda Barker again).

Leeds used it for an opt out the other week, also used it to close down (well hand to News24)

The 'Skateboards' ident in the Midlands is particularly bad quality, compared to the network version.

In fact, this is the only one that's bad, 'cos the others seem Ok!

Will Midlands use 16:9 versions of their idents when they move to the Mailbox, or will they stick with the 4:3/14:9 versions?
