As its due to extend hours for the Olympics today, BBC Four is instead showing a BBC slide with Red Button music.

The same slide used by CBBC following the closure of BBC Three and to prepare for the extension of CBBC's hours.

Nice to see this loop again. The music is so soothing.

Yes it was, but in any case that isn't an excuse for no special ident in 2012. You could say there was no point in doing elaborate opening titles for the coverage as that wouldn't be shown much either. They'd be shown the same amount of times.

No. You're complaining that the UK's London-headquartered public broadcaster wasn't showing an ident of London between the London Olympics coverage, the BBC News - with a live backdrop of London, and a soap about the east end of London, featuring a map of London in it's titles.

It's different at least, because we usually have the BBC being accused of being anti Scottish. Usually from the SNP and its supporters.

Standard conversion really obvious on these inserts. The insistence on putting a film effect on them is really making the frame rate conversions show up. Just shoot them video-look for god's sake. The 60>50 conversion is pretty transparent, the 30>50 (and possibly 25>60>50 if it was shot 25p) much more obvious. These arty-farty film looks don't go through standards conversions well at all.

No. I have got no complaint about the BBC regarding Glasgow as the Scottish Games. Nor have I got an issue with them regarding an ident for Rio. But, cast your mind back to Manchester 2002. These weren't the "English Games". They were the UK Games. London 2012 was the UK Olympics and as such a once in a lifetime event for Brits. The BBC were questioned about lack of London 2012 Ident and they said that they had elaborate and effective promotions which sufficed. Why couldn't the same elaborate and effective promotions suffice this time? Also, during the Commonwealth Games, viewers in England were given major news on Scottish medal winners, which is fine, but very rarely did they highlight the fact that England were the leaders of the medal table throughout.

And, during the Glasgow Games, guess where the BBC's News Studios were from? Guess what backdrop they had? I'll give you a clue, it wasn't London! So, where's the difference?

It sounds like a GarageBand remix.
