I was just waiting for that argument to be brought up. I'm sorry but the fact people in the idents may die is no argument to bring back the balloons! In that case, I may as well put forward the agument that if Felixtowe were to blow up spontaneously or Snowdon or the Downs, they would have had to withdraw those balloon idents.

Maybe not, but it is a reason to call for the entire set to go - using stunt-people probably wasn't Lambie Nairn's best idea! Anyway, I'd be interested to know how many people have downloaded the idents from BBCi - the 2s have probably had at least treble the number of downloads!

So you're suggesting in all seriousness that the whole concept of people idents should never have been adopted becuase the people in them may die? The words "logic" and "twisted" spring to mind.

Yes, but hot air balloons don't 'die' - unless Ms Heggassy decided to kill them of course...

I'm speaking generally of course. I was simply using the balloon as an example of a non-living object.

I thought the recent BBC Proms trailers with the theme of the circle (which could be an abstract and modern interpretation of a globe) were excellent. The photography was beautiful.

One thing about BBC One's idents is that they are very poorly filmed. It's like they've just shoved a camera in front of some dancers and made them dance for half a minute. The dance idents could look a hell of a lot better, simply with some imaginative photography.

Great. But what has any of that got to do with the death of an acrobat? Absolutely sod all - that's what I'm trying to say.

You can't use the death of someone and the subsequent (and sensible) withdrawal of an ident as a reason for not adopting people idents in the first place. That's a ridiculous argument to put forward.

It's the fact they used stuntmen that I'm bothered about. In Acrobats, where was the safety net!?! Breaches Health and Safety if there isn't one, so putting that out of shot - if indeed there was one - wasn't very smart for Auntie's image.

Well apparantly the Acrobat ident hasn't been dropped forever. I don't know why - are the BBC making sure the dancer is actually dead??

The locations they were in might have had somethig tragic happen though.

They're a lot more clever and complex than you think. Choregraphing those routines and the often difficult camera movements and filming them in 1 take isn't easy!

You are getting more surreal by the minute. Are you serious? Go and put your head in a bucket of water you fool. I'd be more concerned about workers tap dancing in a factory. Cretin.

Look closely - they're holding on to railings! This is evident at the end of the ident, as can be seen on the stills at The TV Room. And again, there may have been some safety measure out of shot.

Don't worry, the image is from TV Home!

Safety measure? They're dancing in a studio!
They do climb a few rungs, but then how many window cleaners and builders climb 10 times as far without 'safety features'?

DAS this is a forum for open discussion, so people can discuss their viewpoint just as you can. It would seem from other topics (BBC Two Ident & Subtitling) that you have a real problem with listening to other viewpoints. I think the use of the word Cretin shows this very clearly. Perhaps you should only comment if you have something worthwhile to add to the discussion, I am sick and tired of seeing your rude comments and remarks. I know others have left the forum in the past due to such behaviour - could you stop it now?
