I'm wondering whether the schedules are correct at present, the QI situation is absurd, it also seems peculiar to have Michael McIntyre's Roadshow up against Graham Norton late on Friday too.

They won't be 100% final yet as Monday's simulcast of Masterchef on BBC HD is the wrong length.

Of course they will insist on a DOG for the channel: in case we're all too stupid to remember what we're watching, and that will create a flurry of complaints. I'm sure I'll be one of them.

I'm sure they'll only have the DOG on for HD content like on ITV1 HD so it's easier to see if it is HD or not than by pressing the 'i' button on every programme all the time

Time for a new look BBC One too, the circles are nearly as old as the dancers

So? My nan's older than Michael Jackson, but I'm not considering shooting her.

Erm, not sure what that has to do with a set of idents. Idents do need changing every so often and now we've come to point where it's time for a new set and a new logo to refresh the channel.

Well, Mike W didn't say that - I inferred that they should be changed because they were old, not because they were looking tired. That is a valid point (not one I agree with) but a few people on here seem to want change for change's sake much of the time.

Well, Joe H, I hardly doubt the on air appearance of a channel relates to shooting your grandmother...

BBC One Circles are old and tired, the logo is ok but the circles theme has aged badly.

I realise that you like to change your username quite often, but that doens't mean it's a good idea for all things to change so frequently.

Lugajug made a valid point in my eyes, with a bad anaology to be fair, perhaps a pet dog may have been better as we're more inclined to put down animals than people. He was making the piont that just because the dancers lasted about the same time as the circle idents have so far, doesn't mean they should be got rid of (which seemed to be your original point). Similarly, just becuase Micheal Jackson has lasted about as long as his grandmother (sorry, I can't be more specific) doesn't mean that she should be got rid of.

The circles are far from tired. They're not as old as the dancers and look how many complaints there used to be about them. The faffing around they did with the idents is the only thing that's aged it in my opinion, the original music was much stronger. That's not to say there isn't still life in the circles theme yet though.

I would disagree, the circles were a nice stopgap but its time for something bigger, bolder and more striking.

At least it will stop gap programme crashes. Seen how many times that you missed things because of sport

Regardless of how long the circles have been on, the pattern of changing them is usually down to the fairly quick turnover of controllers in the last ten years. Heggessy and Fincham were both in their first year or so in charge when the dancers and circles launched, and both quite publicly backed them as part of their vision for the channel. So once Danny Cohen has got his feet under the table we can probably expect him to order a new look too...

I wonder if they'll repeat that pattern - considering the amount the BBC has now got to deal with after the spending review, something relatively frivolous like a rebrand would go down very badly publicly, I'd have thought? I think they need to drop the boxes across TV channels though, and maybe add a few new idents for the set - slipping a few new ones in should be fine compared to redoing everything.
