But an interview with the producer/director/someone important at the beginning of the last series (2009) said their set change was in line for HD and they hoped to be in HD in the near future.
I think Casualty will be relocating to the new drama centre being built by BBC Wales - and I suspect will go HD when it relocates from Bristol.

"Each to their own" is not what you're suggesting though, is it, Square Eyes?
If they can launch a separate HD channel, albeit with only a single UK wide facility, then they should've ensured that they could broadcast a national programme to cover the regional slot (à la UK Today).
The solution, whether a stop-gap, or a permanent solution, is to just broadcast a holding slide or promos rather than annoy sections of their audience.
I've already "got the message" from ITV that my region doesn't matter, by them moving it to the HQ of the adjoining region in Bristol - or Birmingham if I watch in HD, which fails to cover my area even as a passing thought.
I doubt that the BBC would really want licence payers to question their commitment to regional news by 'forcing' BBC London News on the entire nation on their new HD channel by default.
I'm not sure of the technical details, but theoretically it is possible for BBC ONE HD to upscale and broadcast the News Channel feed during the back half of Six - or probably showing the whole New Channel version of the Six, instead of 30 minutes of promo loop during the regionals.
They could rotate around the regions or put out News 24. Personally, for me, I like having the option of watching Granada Reports on ITV1 HD, rather than a still slide or 30 minutes of promos - effectively dead air. How does that benefit the BBC audience ?
But hey, each to their own.

Why would they show the London version? Are viewers in the capital incapable of switching to channel 1/101 like the rest of the country?
It's not 'BBC One London HD', it's a single UK-wide service.
BBC One HD currently showing a caption reading "BBC One HD cannot yet show programmes from every part of the UK. The programme for your area is now on Channel 1." The regional part of the Politics Show is on. I would have thought they'd be showing the London version.

Technically it is entirely possible - but it would mean the News Channel providing opt-out points (as they did in 1998 when BBC One Digital launched with no regional opts facilities in England - so the original UK Today solution was an opt-in and opt-out of News 24 at 1830 and 1330, with pre-recorded bulletins at other times made by a very small team)
However it would only really be possible to do the News Channel opts at 1830 and 1330, and possibly 2225.
It wouldn't solve the problem during Breakfast (when there isn't a separate News Channel operation), during the afternoon or during the 2000 BBC One bulletin (when the regional opt-out is so short it would be a nightmare to do as an opt), or The Politics Show (where it would make no sense).

Yeah, but a simple solution would be to get whoever is doing the national news to continue for the remainder of the bulletin after a brief pause and given that BBC One HD goes to 30 seconds of a slide I actually think that would be a better solution for the 8pm bulletin, either that or stick an extra trailer and be done with it.

Indeed I have never understood why when Riz presents the 90 second update this isn't done from BBC London and she continues with that bulletin.
In my mind the best solution would be:
* BBC News Channel output at 1330 and 1830
* BBC News continue for the final 30 seconds of the 90 second update
* Pre-recorded bulletin at 2225
* Breakfast bulletins could be additional business news perhaps
Not sure what the weekend bulletins would be - at some continuation of the news channel would be simple.

As I mentioned a week or two ago, the News Channel should be providing the sustaining feed for BBC One during the regional opts after the 1/6/10 - but I believe it's been put on hold, because TalkTalk TV (formerly Tiscali TV, formerly Homechoice) customers were getting that instead of London news.

Has anyone else noticed that the programmes shown on BBC One HD aren't on BBC iPlayer yet? For example, Strictly Come Dancing isn't on there. Programmes that have been repeated on BBC HD are on there as per usual. What is the process of getting the programmes onto the iPlayer work exactly?
The lack of distinction between SD and HD shows is irritating. It's as if they're claiming all of the BBC One HD content is in HD. Please only announce HD when the programme is in HD, and only show the DOG when in HD!

Yep - I agree that the permanent DOG is misleading.
Either the HD tag should appear and disappear based on the content - as it does on Five or E4 - or the entire DOG should disappear on SD content.
Personally I'd be happy with no DOG at all - though at least the BBC One HD DOG is small and very transparent. The ITV 1 HD is hideous in comparison.
