I agree that the DOG is much better at the smaller size.

Unsurprisingly the launch of the new channel passed without mention on BBC One Wales, given that they're opting-out to show 'Snowdonia 1890' at 7:30 and moving the Wallace and Gromit programme to 8:00. I can't imagine the Nations being particularly keen to promote the channel anyway if there's a chance that they would lose too many viewers to the Network schedule on BBC One HD.

Likewise Scotland who aren't showing Wallace & Gromit until Friday.

It seemed to lurch in a bit suddenly in the middle of junction before that damp squib of an ident. I'd have thought they'd have made a bit more of a play of the launch really, but oh well I probably just expect too much. Laughing They at least mentioned it on the opening of The One Show.

Is that all you saw? I wouldn't have thought that the version on Virgin would be any different but the channel started neatly at the end of the regional news here

There's about an extra second or so which the video misses, but on Freeview HD it cut from the holding slide into the end of something around the point of the words 'on BBC 1 and BBC One HD'. Probably half of the menu anno?

Edit: Actually scratch that, just noticed there's a glitch on the clip, in that it's missing the beginnig on the encode making it look even more cutdown. Will have a replacement up in a mo! Laughing

Edit2: Video clip updated with all but a second or so of what I got! Razz

Looks like they are showing Inside Out South on Monday... http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/programmes/schedules/hd/2010/11/08

I wonder if this will really happen and I wonder why the South version.

I hope someone is capturing the first region opt at 20:00, is there a 30 seconds version of the countdown?

Why would any BBC channel discourage, or 'hide away' something on another BBC channel ?

It wouldn't be in either the licence payer's or Beeb's interest would it ?

Pretty much what we'd have expected for the 8pm news update. I wonder if this particular 'regional' segment will eventually get replaced with another trailer as it seems like the sort of convenient gap they'd not miss! Laughing

A trailer or a national sport headline or a national weather forecast.

I suspect that caption is on the sustaining feed of BBC1, it will be interesting to see if it appears on the SD version of BBC1 when a region fails to opt out,

Why not just play a promo out as the sustaining SD feed, and as a filler for HD. Kill two birds. . .

The silly background rumble to the captions is already annoying me, what we need is David Dundas to compose a nice repetitive but listenable tune, worked for C4 for its first few weeks in 1982 Very Happy

If it were on the sustaining feed then the CA wouldn't have got cut off like he did in the video above.
