Well yes, exactly what I suggested back in Post #95, only to be shot down by David in #96
Let's wait until 22:00hrs Wednesday to know for sure !
It's not being listed as being in HD, so it's safe to assume it won't be.
I believe the FAQ should have read .... not available IN HD at the moment.

I think it means the idents won't be gaining an HD tag, à la ITV1 HD.
Sounds as though they either felt the tag was unnecessary or the solution was so bad it was rejected. Unlikely but then again they do have form, look at the mess they made of the re-edits, with the kites, etc. ending up behind the logo.

I wonder if the BBC wanted to use the same ident on both BBC One SD and BBC One HD (with the HD animating on and off)?
ITV1 has separate idents for ITV1 SD and ITV1 HD as they do split presentation on the two platforms (something they do a lot of when it comes to advertising and local news)

The timing of the new Queen Vic's interior being unveiled (the day before BBC One HD's launch) seems to suggest that EastEnders originally intended to go HD to coincide with BBC One HD going on air, and for whatever reason that couldn't happen in time, so they shifted it to the next landmark episode ie Christmas Day. So BBC One HD, rather than launching tonight, was shifted to launch on the Wednesday which had a convenient lineup of HD shows (if no particular blockbusters whereas tonight would have had EE and Holby). Could be rubbish but it's a theory!

Do you know if this is still going to happen, noggin? I would love to see BBC News in HD, albeit just the graphics.
I hear rumblings that News may be looking at a temporary DIY SD upscaled video + HD on-screen graphics operation to avoid all of their graphics being upscaled and then downscaled for SD viewers.

You do get the sense they were gearing up for EastEnders to be in HD on launch night.
Given how the Next/Later text goes on and off a few frames out of sync, I guessed it looked rubbish. Surely the HD channel can air different content to SD? Missed opportunity for more BBC HD cross promotion if not.
Wonder if they'll have the same debate as ITV in having a HD branded DOG shown during upscaled programmes?
FWIW, Virgin smartened up their caption (a little) prior to switching to the BBC loop today.

Freesat has now switched, happened at about 1pm. BBC 1 HD now on 108, BBC HD on 109.
Sky are leaving it a bit late to switch channels. I still have BBC HD on 143. I would have thought they'd do it before programmes start on BBC HD today.
