Hmm. I don't normally go in for conspiracy theories, but...
Does anyone else ever get the feeling that a channel decides on how it wants its DOG to look, and then launches with a stupidly large, coloured or bright version? Then, they tone it down a few weeks later to look as they originally intended, so that those who've complained (and would complain about any DOG) feel like they've achieved a victory and shut up, on the basis that 'it's not as bad as it was'.
Or at least, they test the water with something truly obtrusive just to see how much they can get away with.
I will bet 50p that the DOG being used at the moment will be scaled down considerably before next Wednesday...
If it isn't, I'll bet £5 it will be changed within a fortnight of launch.
I wouldn't be so sure. To me it looks like the DOG has been made that size to ensure the "HD" tag on the logo is readable, especially on 720p televisions. As long as the logo is using that poor attempt to add HD branding, I imagine the DOG will stay.
Er... I think the normal definition of launch would be 7pm next Wednesday and not the start of test transmissions, the appearance of a placeholder or whatever. lol
The same day as all the others, 3rd November at 7pm with The One Show
I mean will it appear in advance of 7pm, with a holding card?
Well posters on the 'other' forum are saying that it will appear before the day because the place holder on Sky says that BBC HD has moved to 169. Hope this helps
Not on my Sky, it hasn't.
Someone I follow on Twitter posted that on BBC HD the continuity announcer over the end of the Apprentice reminded people to change their Series Link to BBC 1 HD.
It's not surprising given the current BBC One logo was likely created without DOG suitability in mind. The position and size of the BBC logo next to the 'One' makes for an awkward DOG proposition; I doubt they could decrease its size without making the BBC logo (and certainly the all-important, ill-designed 'HD' tag) illegible.
The solution would be to resize the 'HD' badge to match the 'One', shift it directly alongside the 'One' and reduce the size of the whole thing, accepting that the BBC logo may become less readable. I can't think of another alternative that wouldn't involve tweaking the core logo.
