What does it mean "BBC HD can now be found on Virgin Media 187" - does this mean BBC One HD will appear on 108?

BBC One HD will indeed be on 108.

*grateful nod*

Hmm. I don't normally go in for conspiracy theories, but...

Does anyone else ever get the feeling that a channel decides on how it wants its DOG to look, and then launches with a stupidly large, coloured or bright version? Then, they tone it down a few weeks later to look as they originally intended, so that those who've complained (and would complain about any DOG) feel like they've achieved a victory and shut up, on the basis that 'it's not as bad as it was'.

Or at least, they test the water with something truly obtrusive just to see how much they can get away with.

I mean will it appear in advance of 7pm, with a holding card?

I don't see why BBC One HD can't take the BBC News channel when regional news is on BBC One (SD) but I'm guessing it will probably be London like ITV1 HD was when it started.

I'm assuming we'll get BBC London News during Breakfast (when the BBC News Channel isn't really up and running - and Pres aren't involved in the regional opting?)

If the longer regional opts are replaced by the BBC News Channel - that is going to pepper their schedule with yet more opts (just like when UK Today launched in 1998 - when the 1330 and 1830 opts were opt-ins to News 24 - though at that time it was more complicated because the One and Six weren't simulcast on News 24 before)

I know up to a while ago ITV1HD had the London news during the regional news with a bacl caption sating turn to normal ITV1.

I think Daybreak is on ITV1HD - does anyone know what they do during local news ? Is it not the micro - regions they were talking about?

I watch Daybreak on ITV1HD in the Granada region, and we have normal regional opts as per ITV1.
DV
DVB Cornwall
Granada being an ITV HD region so that's not unexpected. In the SW we get London on ITV1 HD.

Danielle Nagler has answered this on the BBC TV Blog, in a rare answer to a comment (presumably because I got the question in before the usual picture quality arguments started!)

Quote:

What is the plan for the spots when regional news would be shown on BBC1? Will the BBC take this opportunity to show they're not London biased and maybe put Reporting Scotland into that gap as they're the only region/nation with HD studios?

Quote:

We'll show a still slide over regional news spots so that viewers know to head to BBC One SD to find their news service. We are working on being able to offer BBC One in HD in all its dimensions - but this is just the beginning.

What happens for things like the Politics Show and Inside Out will be interesting to see.

Well posters on the 'other' forum are saying that it will appear before the day because the place holder on Sky says that BBC HD has moved to 169. Hope this helps
