I've noticed that BBC One Midlands plays out the BBC One HD anno on SD when the opt programme is from the Midlands.

Example this morning was before Politics Midlands.

Is this the same for all regions or did the HD anno go out in all SD regions anyway?

It’s the same for all regions who are on BBC One HD.

Isn't it the case when BBC 1 HD shows a particular region's politics show, that region doesn't opt from Net 1 (which is effectively in this case the BBC 1 HD feed) and London plays out the show?

It's always been like this, it's so that the announcement about turning to BBC One SD for your local programme doesn't go out to viewers already watching on SD.

Nothing new either, years ago when started as The Politics Show and the regions could only opt out on analogue, the London version would go out on BBC One digital. London had to mask the announcement before it for the same reason.

The trouble is, the announcement does go out on SD telling you to tune SD!

I think some regions opt-out to replace the announcement when they are the networked/HD show, though it may depend whether the show is live or pre-recorded.
