Was it down for long?

Just over five minutes.

- The loop of the Seascape visual was an abomination. Unlike the original version, where the loop wasn't very obvious at all, this one is shockingly bad.

Worse than the so badly looped it's funny Zoetrope next pointer?

Definitely, it looks as though they started to reverse it in the same style, then gave up and cut back to the start. Here's a short clip, see if you can spot it...

Absolutely appalling. That whole slide - and especially the font they used for the caption - should *never* have made it to air, but I can't say I'm surprised.

Is there any reason why golf OBs seem to be so susceptible to falling off air? Was it another power failure?

I can't quite believe what I've just seen.

It appears the designers forgot to produce a fault caption, *shock*.

it seems like today's wasn't a power problem, but something did go wrong at the uplink.

To be honest, I was amazed to find a way the designers of the BBC Two update could have actually done a worse job than we thought. Incredible, really.

There are people at TV Centre that cleared this presentation package for transmission. They obviously think it looks good.

Can we really be that surprised that such an appalling apology caption is in use.

It looks to me as though the designers forgot to include a fault caption in the updates and someone had to rush one out by using a blank next pointer.

The fault caption won't have been forgotten about. It is usually available to be cut to at any time.

The mess is just down to incompetence and not any last-minute rush.

If you are correct then that fault caption is one of the most lazy, ill-thought out, incompetent pieces of presentation I have ever seen. The use of Arial rather than Avenir, the inconsistent line spacing, the laughable looping. I expect these kinds of pitfalls in the mocks forum but not on BBC Two or any other major broadcaster.

It's beyond a joke now.

Interesting statement from the announcer there:

"If you've just joined us, I'm sorry, we're still having problems bringing you the Scottish Golf Open..."

Firstly, if a viewer has just tuned in, they'll have been unaware of the breakdown until now, so the use of the word "still" is somewhat inappropriate.

Secondly - 'Scottish Open Golf' rather than "Scottish Golf Open" I would've thought.
