Completely unrelated, but at the beginning of the programme the presentation director in Scotland cut to Marksi's clean feed "BBC Clouds" image. I haven't seen that on air before.
Am I right in thinking that the nations directors cut up the sources and voice the idents at the same time?
There was a distinct sound of button pushes during the junction, and I don't remember hearing anything like it for years.

Looks like playout problems with Murder on Sycamore Street on BBC One at the moment, its very jerky and sound is out of sync, both on DTT and Analogue on BBC One (south) at the moment.
edit: Soon as I post they fix it.

Not unrelated I'm afraid!
The "BBC Clouds" holding slide is displayed on the programmes only Clean Feed between programmes. Murder on Sycamore Street failed to appear on the Clean Feed, which is why the 'Clouds' appeared there instead. The Nations Directors had to cut across to the dirty network feed to bring you the programme. The programme was played off D3 tape, rather than server, and it seems some dirt clogged the heads of the machine which resulted in the sound and vision problems on the programme. To clarify: there are some issues surrounding playing programmes off tape, and the fuctionality of the programmes only Clean Feed.

I don't remember hearing about this kind of problem before with programmes from tape; perhaps the fault with the server copy was discovered fairly late on and the network director used the emergency cut?
(just idle conjecture..)

No. They were not in emergency cut.
There have been issues regarding programmes played off-tape not appearing on the programmes only Clean Feed since the Broadcast Centre opened. I had thought the problem had been fixed.... however, I'm begining to think that the problem may only have been fixed for the Digi-Beta Machines. Murder on Sycamore Street was off a D3 tape.

How long before a programme starts would the clean feed be expected to change from the clouds to a VT clock for the programme?
PC
A slide that appears between the programmes on the Clean Feed.
Appearance is basically a still of Marksi's sky in daytime with a few wispy clouds; BBC corporate logo is centered and is white.
It is not something that is deliberately shown and typically tends to pop up during slight hiccups in junctions (major faults in programmes call for the apology caption instead).

Don't mean to sound stupid, but what is the "BBC Clouds"?
