Quite a funny fault then, poor Alex Deakin, the camera was left on for too long, at first it looked like the picture was frozen, but he had to stand still, before they switched to a caption, with some music. It was funny with Alex Deakin though. Very Happy

I've never seen someone keep from blinking for so long!!

I couldn't work out whether the picture was frozen, or whether he was still live until he blinked at the end! Poor bloke...gotta feel sorry for him.

Indeed, Alex Deakin did well standing there for a minute with a fixed smile not knowing what to do. He did look silly though!

I suppose its an occupational hazard for a weather presenter, if it was a newsreader they could just look down and shuffle their papers

All of us here couldnt stop laughing, you could tell he was trying to stop from laughing himself, poor bloke... LOL

I guess he'll be adding a caption on its own as the last slide of the graphics sequence as per News24 in future then Wink

I was just thinking that, Steve.

Poor chap. I just watched it back, and he was there for 30 seconds after finishing the forecast. (I wonder if the producer in the weather studio could have faded him out?)

Apparently the problem was due to Colossus having a bit of a funny turn. In fact, it looks like they've just padded with the breakdown slide until Question Time was due to be played out from Birmingham.

It looks like there was also a problem with the playout of Question Time tonight. Picture was pixelating - I thought it was my dish at first, but the anouncer appologised at the end.

That's the problem with digital media - it's difficult to tell whether any faults are your end or the broadcaster's. Something made painfully obvious the other night during the report on Saddam's trial; how many others thought their dish/Freeview box was playing up until Darren apologised afterwards?

Simpler than that, why didn't he just calmly walk off shot, would that have been so bad ?

He'd have to remove his mic and earpiece first though, and put down his 'clicker'.

Not necessarily - I think there's enough length in them to be able to make it off-camera.
Still, he was probably standing there thinking "they'll cut away soon. Any minute now. Then I won't be standing here looking like an idiot. Any second. I'm sure it's just a temporary fault. Oh my god, I think I'm going to fall over if I stand here any longer..." (etc)

Really ? Surely the cables are long enough for him to side step just a couple of feet ?
