But how do you know you're not set for Central News West? There's no way of checking. It may be that your postcode is just on the border of East/West and you were assigned West. I dunno.
My postcode is NG10. NG stands for Nottingham. That's nowhere near the border for East and West. I get Central East on terrestrial, not West.

It's the principal. I shouldn't have to dial 950 instead of 101.
j2k: The 2nd comment is wrong otherwise it would have been the same for me as well.

I thought NG10 postcodes were out Long Eaton way, which is south-west of Nottingham and will probably map to West Midlands for both BBC and ITV.
JA
That is correct. Long Eaton is in Nottingham, which is in the East Midlands - as is Derby, Leicester.
Leicester is way south of me and that is still East Midlands and Central East. Derby is way west of me and that is still East Midlands and Central East.
Why would it be mapped to Birmingham??

How many times do both me, Noggin, Larry, and all the other employees of the Beeb have to explain - IT'S SKY WHO ARE USING THE OLD POSTCODE MAP, NOT THE BBC!

If the BBC wernt being so fussy and stubborn, this would of been sorted before the regions went live

I have no problem. You clearly have a bee in your bonnet over this! As has been explained, the BBC postcodes will be used next year ... until then, dial 95 and then whichever number it is for Notts - it ain't difficult

It seems a terrible waste of bandwidth. A UK today style programme would be satisfactory . I can't see the point of it all. I don't think these regions will last the test of time in their current state. I expect several will be amalgamated in the next couple of years.

I believe I'm right in saying that the 1830 regional programmes are the most watched news programmes in Britain - so many people would argue it's well worth making sure they're all available.

The reason you don't get Cenral News East is that it does not broadcast on Sky. Nor do the other sub-regions on ITV. Central West is the only 'flavour' of Central that is available through Sky AFAIK.

UK Today was useless. We were lucky to get one report from the South West during the whole 25 minutes.

People watch local news so why not have it on satellite?! The BBC know this and thats why they went to the effort of sorting all of this out. Please, I never want to see UK Today ever again.
TV
Well I hope jay was watching Midlands Today then, cos they explained everything to him, and what to do, including a telephone number. Dominic even popped up by way of a friendly face. I wouldn't like to choose between the two to be honest.
And now Points West are teaching everyone about how it works, with people who *actually* campaigned for digital Points West. Nice of them to say hello to everyone though.
