It was mentioned that we would be able to change the region on 101. Can we do this or not??
Not at the moment. Its a case of popping up to 941ish and making the region you want a favourite. Apparently they are working on this, but it'll be a while before its sorted.
The original plan was to have a choice on 101, but since the Sky-BBC deal it's being done by postcode
I'd like to know why the hell I've got BBC 1 WEST MIDLANDS on 101, when I quite obviously live in Nottingham. Sort it now, or else!!
Perhaps your card has the wrong postcode, unfortunately you can't check if your default ITV region is correct as they don't havean East Mids
The card is registered with the postcode NG10 - it's on all the letters sent by Sky and also if i order something through interactive the details are correct.

Its the same here on the Isle of Man, we've been givin BBC 1 N E & C instead of BBC1 N West.
Yep - this is probably because initially the BBC/Sky are using the ITV1 postcode mapping database - and the Isle of Man gets different ITV1 and BBC One regions. Presumably you get Border or Tyne Tees as your analogue ITV1 but BBC One North West? Whilst the ITV1 postcode mapping is used you'll probably get the matching BBC region to your ITV region?
I have an active viewing card, but I'm getting the wrong BBC ONE region, Why?
The current BBC ONE regional allocation on satellite is based on the postcode with which your viewing card was originally registered. Initially, this postcode is "mapped" to the existing regions that ITV broadcast on Satellite. In a few parts of the country these differ from the BBC regions, and viewers may get a different BBC service to the one they expect at Channel 101. We are working to rectify this issue with BSkyB, but a full solution is not expected until early next year.
All BBC regional services are available in the Sky TV Guide ( EPG) - click here for the full BBC list.
Sky Digiboxes without active viewing cards will default to BBC ONE London on 101 and BBC TWO England on 102.
This is because the receiver without a viewing card has no way of establishing where it is located within the UK, and automatically assigns 101 to BBC ONE London and 102 to BBC TWO England.
All regional and national variants of BBC ONE are available in the Sky TV Guide (EPG) - click here for the full BBC list.
It is not possible to manually program the digibox to know where you live. This function is performed by the postcode with which your viewing card was registered.
What a load of tripe. This is the BBC here, they can't manage to give people their right region??

Again this may be due to the BBC/Sky initially using the ITV1 Postcode mapping database? There is no East Midlands ITV1 region on satellite - instead the ITV1 Central (carrying West Midlands local news) region covers the BBC One East Mids, West Mids (and Oxford?) on satellite. This may mean that the East Mids and Oxford sub-regions are not currently mapped accurately to 101 in all regions - as there has been no real way of testing (or may not be mapped at all ?)

It isn't the BBC though is it??? It is Sky who are performing the postcode mapping FOR the BBC.
The ITV1 database took months and months to generate AIUI - and the BBC only reached a deal with Sky about regional mapping very recently (end of May or June?) so neither party has had time to create a second database.
Also the Sky regional mapping system was set up for the ITV 16 feed system, not the greater number of BBC 1 regions, and need to make more sub-regions to cater for the combined BBC / ITV regions (especially in areas where the two are different) which means creating more sub-sets of viewing cards.

Then why haven't the BBC said this before? They should have publicised the fact that not all BBC Regions will be mapped to 101 straight away.
Using an unaltered version of ITV1's database is just plain dumb. This means NOBODY in the East Midlands will receive BBC1 East Midlands on channel 101.
Surely the BBC could have realised that ITV1 Central East isn't broadcast on satellite and quickly added the major East Midlands postcodes so that BBC1 East Midlands viewers can see their channel on 101, no?
