I'm guessing that Reporting Scotland are holding off on doing anything drastic to their set until they move into their new home in Govan. But it is a bit dull - the only change I can remember is when they started using the two plasma screens for stills.

Have always thought Wales Today had one of the nicest sets when it came to the corporate look. They went from what was a pretty small set (but nice theme though!!) to a decent sized set with an excellent soft area. Also, it is generally an excellent programme with the way it is put together (only second to Midlands Today of course!!) Wink

Wales Today did go through a tatty studio phase. Behind the plasma they installed some orange lights which looked dreadful.

They've added some red backgrounds to the big screen and opposite the main desk.

Last year though they gave the studio a bit of a spring clean and it looks a lot better for it. Although the blue carpet from under the desk has dissapeared Confused

Yeah when is that happening, I read somewhere it was supposed to have happened by now.

BBC Newsline's set really pales in comparison to Wales Today, very impressive set there, especially the soft area and projection screen for the weather being combined like that, truly innovative. Here, our Newsline set is perhaps a bit restricted in floor space with The Politics Show set sharing the same studio. Still, more could be made of the space they have but then perhaps a big revamp will come along once Reporting Scotland moves away from the current look.

Then there was that bubble in the wall.
I think one of the BBC Wales peeps on here said that the blue carpet was in fact just the floor painted blue. And I think [if you see the Newyddion capture below] it's quite shiny from the lights to be a carpet.

Yeah, perhaps that's on the cards for you two. I don't think there's anything that needs changing with WT at the moment, I think it works well, though if the other two nations' music gets updated, I hope Wales's does as well.

The WT studio is used for many other programmes, some aren't on anymore/at the moment. I couldn't tell you if The Politics Show comes from there, I'm not usually around to see it.

But as you can see with a few examples [just for illustration] the studio is quickly adaptable for different programmes, and quickly too with live programmes at 5pm, 6pm/6.30pm, 7.30pm and 9pm. The small studio is used for Breakfast/weekends/Newyddion update.

Wales Today, 2W, Newyddion, Yr Wythnos, Ffeil, and others

Mainly subtle differences of colours, lights, railings/no railings, soft seat/half soft seat/moving soft seat, light box thing, extra partitions, extra screens and what have you.

How do they change the colours of the red panels on Wales Today? Is it just using lighting from above on the red, or are the panels transparent and lit by different coloured lighting from behind?

So can anyone help with my question in my post earlier today?
Quote:
Can someone please explain how the Channel Island signal gets from the Channel Islands to us on Sky Digital.

Tell me in basic terms... ie... the signal gets beamed from CI to Plymouth....... and evenutally uplinked at.... you get the drift

Thanks to Katherine for the inspiration for this question

The Look North (Leeds) studio gets used for two programmes at once! The Politics Show in the soft set and the Superleage Show on the desk set on BBC2 analogue ... presumably one is on tape
