On that subject, I notice Metro have ruined their legendry perky annos of "Stand Clear Of The Doors Please" with a generic "Doors Closing". How dull.

I've never heard the Scotrail Woman speak about safety notices only the actual conductors but I understand they have to do it now to ensure that if anything does happen that we've all been warned about the notices. The wouldn't want us to die or anything would they lol.

Today on the train there was a fault on the line and on reaching my destination the kind lady told us we are now arriving at the next station which is 30 miles away... the conductor then announced (chuckeling as he spoke) to ignore her as she doesn't know what she's talking about rofl.

Isn't that what they say on the Underground? Pity Nexus have lowered themselves to that standard, but at least all of their trains run on time.

Remember their 'Guess the Famous Voice' campaign where recordings of a local celebrities announced 'Stand clear of the doors please'? None were remotely recognisable, as I recall.

A short while back on a Sunday I think, got up in the morning, had Breakfast and some coffee, BBC Breakfast had finished.

Then they showed what was on next (Match of the Day) and so forth, but it didn't have any announcement, it was completely silent.

Show a trailer, then the ident (Maasai I think, why they put that before MOTD I don't know) but again, the ident just played without an announcement.

This would've been about 8:30am, maybe they were having a meal break? I doubt it.

Perhaps the Mic Amp failed (again)...

or

The Audio Server failed...

or

The announcer was choking on his/her breakfast.

Mind you, back in the 80s I always used to think that the best time for anyone to hijack BBC 1 or 2 would have been just after the 2100 junction. That was when the tea trolley came round and stopped at the lift lobby nearest the galleries. Stampede..!!!! Empty galleries guaranteed. Especially if there was a very late closedown that night and all the team wanted to stock up with food.

I think it would have been the ideal opportunity for any TV Forumer to nip in get some clean music?! Laughing

oh yes that was rather fabulous. I noticed the Metro Radio one had a rather vile "normal train" door opener button. It's not the Metro if you can open the doors easily, the impossible to press buttons are part of the charm of the metros, like that massive jolt as you leave Palmersville station.

My father was moaning on about how crap the BBC is at the moment, about how everything is going wrong and he couldn't get through on the complaints line when BBC1's output changed to CBBC for 10 mins.

Yeah you just get some f*cker saying "Your call is important to us".*

*It may be someone else now. Even I'm not sad enough to ring up just to hear my own voice telling me that I'm on hold Smile

It's not that ridiculous to be taking a break then if the shift started at 5:30am.

I might ring it at some point as I do not know which voice is yours. Being in Scotland I presume I get more of marksi, who's voice I also do not know.

I suppose if you're in Portpatrick you might, but otherwise you'll not hear me unless you're watching channel 943 on satellite!
