Yeh quite. When you think about it they might have been better off with a redundant London Routemaster.... Now, let me think... didn't a certain automation company used to have one of those..... Smile

They are "Live" in to 5.35 Neighbours. Last week CBBC told there viewers not to watch Neighbours, because they had seen it at lunchtime and a it was a load of rubbish and switch over to CBBC instead.

Anyway, the announcer said into Neighbours "Now it's time for a non-rubbish Neighbours...

How long until the BBC start using the computer voice to do all the annos? Wink

How's about this: Example

This was created using ScanSoft RealSpeak© http://www.scansoft.com/realspeak/demo/

Pretty amazing technology...and really quite realistic. I think the announcers have something to worry about!

The BBC are now using recorded announcements to cover meal breaks.

Sounds like that was what caught them out at the end of Dalziel & Pascoe then. What on earth are they doing having meal breaks at a prime time of the evening?

Mind you, back in the 80s I always used to think that the best time for anyone to hijack BBC 1 or 2 would have been just after the 2100 junction. That was when the tea trolley came round and stopped at the lift lobby nearest the galleries. Stampede..!!!! Empty galleries guaranteed. Especially if there was a very late closedown that night and all the team wanted to stock up with food.

Late closedown? What, 12:05am? Wink

I believe Nancy's Tea Trolley service ceased in 1996.

That would have been quite a rarity in the 1980s wouldn't it?
