Certainly used to be, in peaktime. It's possible that there was an announcer there but the director couldn't/didn't put them to air.
EDIT: Just read Dan's post. Hi Dan!

I thought I remembered someone saying E4's continuity was live? Don't think it is anymore as, at the end of one ad break during Ghostbusters 2 the other week, we stayed on a frame of a trail for a good few minutes before going back to the film (catching the last second of the end of the previous part) with no announcement, apology at the end etc.

These Aussies in charge, on the Fosters already tonight ?
Most Aussies don't like Fosters, thats why they ship it over here.
Well if we're going to be really pedantic, our Foster's is brewed in Britain.
To top all this pedantry, I'd just like to add that as of 11th April our Foster's became a wholly owned brand of Scottish & Newcastle, so the stuff we get is no longer even Aussie-owned or brewed under a licence. Any Australian connections the beer now has are solely based on it's heritage. More info (for anyone who cares)
I've known this for sometime now, still don't mind the taste either way, but the giveaway for me was driving through to Manchester City Centre through the Mosside area (opposite the massive Asda) and happening to notice a giant brewery that has a giant Fosters 'F' on the side and top of the building.

That Fosters logo has been there for at least 15 years now!!!!! First noticed it when I was about 19 heading towards the airport (the road is Princess Parkway and takes you straight to the airport!!!) BUt this is now widely off topic!!!!

I should've remembered about the Scottish Courage to Scottish & Newcastle name change, working for one of their customers here in the Midlands.
(For the record, since I've been working for that customer over the past 15 years, I've known them as Scottish & Newcastle & Courage separatley, then they joined up as Scottish Courage, then a few years ago, they acquired Bulmers of Hereford(the cider people), & now they've changed back to Scot & New. Also of interest, in that period, I've known Whitbread become Interbrew, then more recently InBev!)

How many mancunians HATE InBev? They closed down the Strangeways brewery (i.e. Boddingtons) and moved it to south Wales. It no longer tates like Boddingtons, and in fact it really does taste more dour than when it was brewed in Manchester.
They literally killed off a 200+ year heritage by that move. BAD mistake

Something's up with all the ident audio at the moment - it sounds 'phased' (like what you get when you play two identical tunes within a split second of one another) and is not being faded down during announcements.
Tumbler had this effect when it was used into the Weather and continued to play at full volume for several seconds over the forecast.
I do believe it has been fixed now...wonder what the problem was?
