Isn't Dean Lydiate announcing tonight? I take it, its all pre-recorded then.
err, why do you presume its pre-recorded?
The voiceovers for the trails can be pre-recorded, which would explain why Lydiate was heard again when the trail was accidentally played.
As for continuity into programmes during idents and slides, I would think that's always live. There is only one exception I can think of, which would be TWO's Learning Zone strand.
Indeed, most ECPs are packaged (ie, voice is recorded) but ALL intros/back annos etc are voiced live. Even at 3am etc, we're still here....
These Aussies in charge, on the Fosters already tonight ?
Most Aussies don't like Fosters, thats why they ship it over here.
Well if we're going to be really pedantic, our Foster's is brewed in Britain.
To top all this pedantry, I'd just like to add that as of 11th April our Foster's became a wholly owned brand of Scottish & Newcastle, so the stuff we get is no longer even Aussie-owned or brewed under a licence. Any Australian connections the beer now has are solely based on it's heritage. More info (for anyone who cares)

No Wonder as the Aussies do HATE it - now brewed by Scottish & Newcastle (since last month), under licence from the Oz brewery. Actually the Oz- owners of Fosters make more money from Jacobs Creek than from Fosters (same goes from XXXX Gold - much more popular than Fosters - same Oz Brewery!!). In fact Fosters is seen as GAY drink (before anyone complains about use of capital letters - it is infact correct as GAY is an acronyme for Good As You)
YAWN!!! Enough of Oz Alcohol!!!
Back to the thread. I actually thought it was a novel idea as the beginning title sequence is dead time (no name credirs etc in it so why is it so long! - My Family beginning title sequence is just right length!)so why not try to use that time. I am surprised that ITV hadn't thought of the idea first!!!!!!

Well, in some parts of the country!!!
This is true! The only people who *won't* notice a change in the overnight continuity at some point would be those in England, or more specifically, those receiving BBC ONE Network.
Announcers in the Nations tend to finish up before Network, but that doesn't mean you get announcerless junctions (or a closedown) in those areas, as they simply hand over to Network instead.
You'll usually see this happen after they have voiced the junction into the start of the Sign Zone, but this isn't always the case. If NI / Wales / Scotland have differing schedules through the night, joining N24 at a different time from Network, you'll get the announcer from your respective Nation providing all continuity, right until the end of the day's programming.

Well during the Sign Zone is in fact the only time BBC Wales on 1 viewers would hear network continuity -- the nations don't finish before network at all usually, since they are time shifting programmes that network do not have to and thus usually finish later than network [if there is no Sign Zone].

I thought I remembered someone saying E4's continuity was live? Don't think it is anymore as, at the end of one ad break during Ghostbusters 2 the other week, we stayed on a frame of a trail for a good few minutes before going back to the film (catching the last second of the end of the previous part) with no announcement, apology at the end etc.
Yup - E4's continuity is live and during the breakdown of Ghostbusters 2 Beth announced that there was some ghosts in the machines and they would try and get back to it as soon as possible, she then came back and said it had all been sorted and went back to the next part.

I hope that clears that one up?
Err, I guess! But I'm sure I heard nothing from the end of that ad break until the film came back! I must have pressed mute or something
