News shifting channel, eh? Great! Hopefully the same will happen this year <fingers crossed!>

So the TWO clock hasn't been completely wiped from the BBC Archives then - that's a relief.

Do we know roughly when the new idents will appear on BBC One?
It is pure speculation. Lorraine Heggessey may have changed her mind. Otherwise, I'd suspect the Autumn.

Cheers, Asa

Could It possibly be this weekend as BBC 1 has 2 theme nights (joy of text night & Extreme Sunday) and as far as I know BBC 1 hav enever had a theme night plus the Extreme Sunday Trailer has a yellow & red background by the way Asa are you going to have the 2 gardening logos from BBC 2 ( the garden re edited with new caption & one used on trailers)

Following the Joy of Text Night, what is going to happen next? The joy of hoovering?!?!?!?!?
Absolute cack, don't do it again. And I am getting furious with the BBC. WHEN ARE THEY GETTING RID OF THE BALLOONS? AN EXACT DATE PLEASE!

Jeez, calm down! Furious because the balloons are still here? Blimey, you really don't like them do you?

(And as written near the top of this page)

'It is pure speculation. Lorraine Heggessey may have changed her mind. Otherwise, I'd suspect the Autumn.'

Lorraine did actually admit (well, not directly but..) on Points of View that the Joy of Text had been a failure and not right for a mainstream channel. I doubt we'll see that sort of theme evening again.

If the balloon was to stay, what locations would you get it to fly past?

I would love to see the baloon fly over Edinburgh City centre (cos it really is a beautiful city) except the whole of the City is a no-fly zone (anyone know why?).

They did one like that a while ago but they had to computer generate the baloon so it didnt look that great.

In a dramatic end to the balloon, the BBC should take it out to sea and burn it - Perhaps November 5th would be an apt night to say farewell to the balloon?

Or cut it up into little peices and let TV gurus like us have bits of it to keep forever???

Mr Voiceover's voicebox has exploded so I shall now be known as Jamez

Big thanks to Asa for setting it up for me - cheers M8! Wink

Yay! I'd like that! It'll be,
'This is BBC ONE in the North (or wherever you are) Now at 6.00 the BBC Balloon is going to be set on fire, before going to Huw'
BANG BANG (thunderclaps, but explosions Smile )

It's rare to see the 90sec countdown clock on News24. The most likely place to see it, as you have already observed, is when BBC1 join News24 overnight. The opt-in can be at anytime depending on the schedule, and if BBC cannot fill to the opt with trails (or it is indeed coming to the top of the hour) they will play the 90sec countdown clock as a neater way of joining 24

Just out of interest what musical instruments is the N24 countdown music, and other BBC news tunes played with?

So far I've got drums Wink

can anyone add to that list???

Thats something thats always interested me!

Up until now you could say most news themes involved every instrument in a large orchestra but now that they are moving away from the 'orchestral' themes, it interesting to know what instruments are actually used.

I presume a lot of BBC News 24 was done by computer. I think the bare minimum is recorded and then they can add all the twiddly bits.

The regional news theme sounds the one most synthesized, in fact its probably is completely synthesized.
