Does anyone know when it'll be shown again?? I was waiting for this since 1st Dec! Should've taped it, but the tape wasn't in! Why on earth wasn't this 10-min trailer not mentioned in the listings??

i think i asked this before - does anyone remember the christmas advert on BBC ONE with loads of stars from the christmas line up - Birds of a Feather girls, Noel and Blobby (those were the days), Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, and Lenny Henry all sing a song- Ding dong, ding dong, gotta lot of fings on (feather girls singing this bit) noel and blobby - 'down at crinkly bottom, we'll all be joining in. so join us for a christmas full of fun!' - camera pans out from piano and all sing' Here on BBC One' - ding! and logo appears!
the best advert i have ever seen by far - but noone remembers it, not least have a copy of it! - it was in the same era as the penguins all skidding around on the 1 logo version

I've got the 1991 christmas ident (the moon / dark blue sky one, with a castle in the promo animations). Intrestingley one of the junctions I've got uses a static version of the ident (although there wasnt much happening with the animated version either...)
The animations look nice. Although i did like last years, with the nive music. 1999's was a bit boring though...

The 1991 xmas ident on BBC ONE was quite good as it fitted in with the virtual globe of that era. One of the many problems with virtual globe was it wasn't flexible in other words u couldn't do much with it. After 1991 on BBC ONE Xmas idents they didn't bother using the globe they just used numeric '1s'! which were quite good based on the numeric '2s'! This was half the reason the balloons were introduced, we went from one virtual globe to 47 Balloon idents and more have followed!

And one of the reasons I like them so much - along with the old 2s. Going from 25 mostly different idents down to 4 samey (with a couple more on their way) is simply no substitute. It'll be a shame if they do this with BBC One, in the belief it gives a 'coherent' image.

From what I gather BBC1 won't be quite as bad as BBC2, but it'll be worse! We can look foward to a nice box in the corner, and the URL & Subtitle captions in the top left & right corners
Blame Lambie Nairn - its criminal what they are doing, and they have the cheek to charge £30,000 for one ident!! No wonder the BBC is having to cutback on everything - all their money goes on bloody idents that Lambie Nairn think are great!

The BBC Baloons weren't utilised in the 1997 and 1998 christmas idents, and it doenst look like they will be in the 2001 ident either. I never liked the baloons anyway. A terrible Idea for a channel identity.

Its a great idea, its so adaptable, any sort of programme you can get a balloon flying across something related to it. There are so many varations its great way of incorporating the globe into the ident. Also they balloons are being used this year, you'll notice them on the tree and the bird like thing tries to inflate one (and thats all from catching bits on trailers!) and the idea was used in 1998 although it was just the vague idea of a red spherical object that linked them.
I just dont like the idea of a channel beign represented by a hot air baloon. Ive always found hot air baloons dull, and because of that I hated BBC1s idents from 4/10/97
