BBC One Christmas Ident

Surely the whole point of a red curtain is that at some point it lifts up to reveal what's behind? I can only assume (hope!) that over the coming days or nearer the day itself, we'll have the reveal.

As it stands, it's not very Christmassy and very poor. The Showtime promo could almost be run at any point of the year!

Interesting to see BBC Two getting in first at 7pm with an ident before the trails and then one after. Maybe BBC One's was meant to TX at 7pm?

Really thought this would be the first year in a long time that the major channels would all have great idents. Way to let the team down!!

I suspect the budget for Christmas idents may have been cut due to PQF/DQF and this is the result. I'd like to think the stage curtains ident is just in the run up to Christmas eve/day and then the 'curtain will go up' to reveal a few more idents, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

If the sting on iplayer is anything to go by, the curtain may go up, but only to reveal the programme that is starting?

DQF cuts are no excuse as the trailer will have been expensive. It's how they've spent the money not how much in total.

If all we are getting are different festive shapes in sparkles, it's very similar to ITV1's ident and breakbumpers from 2008/2009

I know you're on about the symbols that fly around the tree, which ITV1 used as break bumpers, but BBC are using them as full idents.
