Are BBC News and/or BBC Parliament doing any Christmas idents? If not why not?
What would you like? Sleigh bells over the headline beds? Snowflakes falling all over the titles? Santa flying across the screen during stings? It's a news channel, not an entertainment channel.....
And as to why BBC Two and BBC Four haven't done anything different, there's this thing I've forgotten the name of, what is it? Oh wait yes - the recession....

The question on my lips now (and no doubt others too) is when do the channels drop their Christmas idents and return to normal pres?
You might think or wish they'd do it on 2 January (or 3 or 4 January when there's been a bank holiday Monday in lieu of New Year's Day being a Saturday or Sunday), but in recent years I've noticed BBC1's tendency to return to normal idents 1st thing New Year's Day.
I've just switched to ITV1 just in time for the start of Dancing On Ice Goes Gold, and have noticed that ITV1 are still using the Christmas idents today.
What idents are BBC1 and BBC2 using today? Any likelihood they might use Christmas ones during the day and go back to normal after 6pm / 7pm?
I thought BBC1 was going to have a firework version of the Christmas ident for new year, but they had the Shrek ident before Top of the Pops New Year's Eve, and the Snowflake one before the programme which followed.
One other item worth a mention was last night's CBeebies closedown. Just before the bedtime story the presenter said this is the last night of 2012 and "when you wake up it will be a new year". However the goodnight song was the usual one, they didn't do a variation of it for New Year's Eve. On New Year's Eve about 7 or 8 years ago they had a special version of the goodnight song "It's the end of a lovely year", and the presenters who sang it said "Happy New Year" right at the very end. I'm surprised they didn't do that this time around.

They did use the firework one a couple of times at least on New Year's Eve- it was used just before New Year Live
Thanks, I guessed they'd use it for that. I tried setting my HDD/DVD recorder to record New Year Live, but got something off ITV4 instead. Although the start/end dates and times were correct, I must have accidentally set the channel at ITV4 instead of BBC1. An oversight on my part due to the recorder being on ITV4 when I went to the timer entry, so to start with the channel was ITV4, and I forgot to alter it to BBC1.

How interesting. You do know all said BBC1 idents are on the BBC website.
Did anybody else find these idents growing on them after Christmas? Personally, I found myself shaking my head every time it came on. I genuinely thought I'd get used to them, but I didn't.
I thought that they were a poor choice, mainly as they didn't feel 'Christmassy' to me at all, something that BBC One usually do, even through the dancing years of children dressed up, they still felt very festive, and different.
