I think we may get a new year ident. A New Year's Day Eastenders advert I saw earlier had sparkles acting like fireworks rather than the usual snowflake.

Surely they could at least have let Boxing Day pass before airing their New Year ident - that could wait till New Year's Eve surely.
Hopefully BBC1 will over compensate next year for the complete failure this year with the idents - after all there is no such thing as a Christmas ident being too Christmassy!

It hasn't been actually aired on TV yet!

The New Year ident? It has, saw it earlier before Toy Story 2.

If you're referring to the Fireworks, that's not true - it has been airing today. I've spotted it before a couple of shows.

Wasn't Toy Story 2 on ITV1 this afternoon?

I think the programmes have been muddled-up above - nothing more than that.
For the record - Fireworks was definitely played out earlier, at 2130, introducing Mrs Brown's Boys.

I've now seen the Shrek and Frog versions of the 2012 Christmas BBC1 ident selection. So at least they've got more than just snowflake and tree.
BBC2 are using last year's idents again: Inventor Lady, Turkeys, Laughing Snowman, Sun and Moon. Why couldn't they bring out something new this year?
BBC4 are using their winter scene again, but only for certain programmes. Otherwise they're sticking with regular idents. Why didn't they bring out a new Christmas ident this year and use it for all programmes?
I've also been on the lookout for the Christmas presentation (bits in between programmes) on CBBC and CBeebies, but haven't checked out BBC3 yet.
Are BBC News and/or BBC Parliament doing any Christmas idents? If not why not?
As for non-BBC channels:
ITV1: I'm really impressed, though it's a bit difficult to identify and catalogue their idents.
ITV2: Looks very much like last year, although some sources say it's been modified. Why didn't they do something distinctly different to last year?
ITV3 and ITV4: I haven't checked; are they doing Christmas presentation?
CITV: I recorded off that channel for a bit yesterday, and quickly scanning through have seen a few Christmas trailers and idents.
Channel 4: well done them doing a Snowman ident, why don't they use it for all their programmes?
More 4: the daytime and nightime version of the Christmas tree ident. I'd have thought the daytime version would be for during the day, and nighttime version for after dark, but evidently that's not the case as the day and night versions got shown yesterday evening.
Film 4: same Christmas idents as last year, but at least they're doing Christmas pres.
E4: a few years ago they had the band playing carols (I think those got used 2 or 3 years); but haven't bothered the last couple of years. Have they done any Christmas idents this year? So far I haven't checked it.
4seven: I haven't looked at that either, but are they doing Christmas presentation?
Channel 5 and 5*: same idents as last year. Last night I set my HDD/DVD recorder to record a programme junction off 5USA, I'll look at it shortly.

I expect they couldn't justify paying for new idents. The right decision in my opinion. Maybe will we find that BBC One use the same Christmas presentation again in 2013 too. I suppose they couldn't use last years idents again this year due to them being too specific to BBC One Christmas 2011. The 2012 idents are generic enough to be used for a number of years to come. Maybe adding Shrek style versions for the bigger programmes of Christmas 2013 and beyond.
4seven: I haven't looked at that either, but are they doing Christmas presentation?
I'm thinking no. I saw two idents on there yesterday, they were not Christmas related even though one of the programmes was (Stephen Fry: Gadget Man Christmas Special).
Mas Christ Happy ... backwards.

The BBC News Channel have got a fake Christmas tree on the back barco in studio N6, but apart from that, nothing.
I don't think BBC Parliament are doing any pres for Christmas, although they are showing some festive versions of their programmes, such as a BOOKtalk Christmas special.
