Nice sting.

The 'red text on white' style should (I hope) get carried across to all the presentation, so that everything from the slides, to the trail endboards, to the Now / Next pointers, all compliment this style. It would be illogical to do otherwise.

You might think that would be illogical...

Once again Denton you've said a lot by not saying anything. BBC presentation makes you want to slap your head in disbelief sometimes!!

Think this is getting a better desicion if the BBC does indeed follow this road with the red writing and the white background, Gives it that Christmassy feel

Nah not suprising you say that, BBC like to do things shall we say Indifferently.

edit: Just incase anyone is wondering the 1st TX For this years christmas ident is Saturday 13th December...

Some other Information

"The campaign includes two idents, with six shorter "stings" that will run on the channel and the BBC's YouTube page, as well as screen savers and static banners."

If I'm interpreting that correctly, then, well...Oh dear, oh dear.

I would say more, but on reflection, I think that sums it up nicely!

I've said it before and I'll say it again why does the lettering always have to be white in the BBC1 logo?

If it was up to me I would mix it up a little and have the lettering in the ident different colours or textures.

Maybe not so news worthy with regards to the ident it's self but i've just found out that the BBC is also launching mobile activity, including a Gromit game and an animation that allows users to "throw" snowballs between phones.

Are you sure?

This is just getting silly now. They've been debuting the christmas idents a day earlier since 2001. It would make much more sense (Oh, sorry I forgot - the BBC doesn't have much sense) to first show it on Saturday 20th, as they did in 2003. If this is the case, there will be a mighty twelve days before Christmas day of the festive presentation.

If this carries on, come 2019 the idents will be airing on Saturday 30th November.

Well I wouldn't be saying otherwise Rolling Eyes and the xmas trailers start this Monday according to Susie.

I agree it is getting silly but since the BBC launch Xmas idents on a weekend i'd say the 20th Would be a little too late in my opnion

That would be far too early - it should be the next weekend at the earliest, though personally now I kind of wish we'd go back to the days of them launching Christmas Eve. At least that way we're not bored of them by Christmas Day.

The best compromise IMO would be perhaps to use it full time from Christmas Eve, but in the week or so before just use it leading into specific Christmas programming, with other idents continuing to air alongside the Christmas ident.
