It's worth remembering that Aardman were also responsible for the outstanding 2001 BBC One Christmas idents.
They did the computer animantions with the dog, dinosaur and Trotter's Reliant Robin?

If they're the ones then I wouldn't call them outstanding!

Not sure about these Wallace and Gromit idents - they worked perfectly for BBC2 back in the 90s, but not so sure they're appropriate for BBC1, however well they may be executed.

As for BBC2 - considering all the "2 dimensions" promos they've done surely they can come up with something for Christmas, especially considering last years aren't worthy of being reused.

Wasn't it said in the thread that this years BBC One Christmas idents will be new, I'm just trying to work out how they can use Wallace & Grommit into the news.

I'd guess they'd reuse Snowball.

It's at times like this that we think if only BBC1 had a clock that they actually used ... [/tvpresboffinrant]

Are the Wallace & Gromit idents going to be circle themed, or are they not bothering with that anymore?

I guess if bouncing kids on christmas pudding space hoppers can be used to precede reports of the 2004 Tsunami, Wallace and Gromit on pre-news idents shouldn't be a problem.

That was embarrassing! Happy, clappy, smiley idents shouldn't lead into the news. This is why the clock was so good for moments like this.

They'll probably have an ident sans characters, like they sometimes did in the 90s or at least a toned down version.

The ones with the kids on had news and non news versions. The non news ones didn't have the form up, just the ending

Just a idea for a 'serious' christmas ident. How's about a slient image of a wreath(SP?) on a door, with the sparkly swirl animating in and the music from one of the snowball stings playing?
