I will disagree with a lot of you here. I like the idents, I see them as fun, interesting and modern. They make a change from last years unimaginative idents. The only fault is the green sky. Last time I checked ours was blue.

Well last year showed why you shouldn't have kids designing them in a competition....or 'rhythm and movement' limitations for that matter. The only time a kid got it right was in 1986 with the dancing Christmas tree and steel drum accompaniment. But this year is so much better than last year which showed a complete lack of invention.

BBC1 had a different controller last year, if you remember...

We just have to hope 2006 can be remembered as a year where the controller made good decisions in this area...it's going to be hard to make as bad a mistake as has been made in previous years, but I won't be specific.

Not sure if it's been mentioned; the 'Now' Menu has been updated with the Xmas ident shots incorporated, along with new festive audio.

I'm very disappointed to be honest - i was really looking forward to the return of "Bouncy Puddings". They were much better than the snowflake kids and these baubles are balls!

Obviously a lot of work has gone into the new ident this year, personally I think it’s great, something a bit different. I can’t believe that people would actually prefer the bouncing puddings ident to be back on our screens over a new one.

do you think they will bring out a brand new dancing ident after christmas or do you think there not going to because bbc1 is getting new idents soon.

I WOULD like a new christmas ident but not that one.

How does it show christmas apart from a massive tree? Next year if they've still got the dancers they should have Father Christmas dancing.
There was actually a mock in 2003 with Father Christmas dancing to Music Video and it was hillarious!

If they havent got the dancers then they should have presents unwrapping themselves to reveal old christmas idents.

you should be greatful that at least they're actually making an effort for christmas, i'm sure it won't be long before the bbc go down the same route as a few local councils and declare christmas racist and no longer make any reference to it.

I will be so bored of it by Christmas Eve.

Wholly agree: it's far too early to begin, but that seems to be the way we're going! Just be grateful it didn't start on December 1st I suppose!

If there's only one version (and obviously a slower news version) it is going to have ground me down to a pulp by new year's day...

I also agree this boy's balls are too shiny.

I'm with you I think this year has been the beste Christmas ident since they dropped the balloon. It's far more striking visually than the previous two and there's lots going on.
